Here is the continuation of my new offroad project
I sold my cayenne S following recurrent reliability problems, but I saved all the parts for the Off Road. My news cars a 2015 Cayenne S Diesel that I am preparing for the off-road.

The motor is very torquey and only 9.5 lt to 100 for 850 NM and 385 HP

I ordered the rockerguard and aluminium plates from Rival and also 19 inch rims

Next step Transsyberian lightbar
I'm going to have to adapt my transyberia light ramp and it's complicated now.

FYI, I discovered BMW stocks an H9 AGM battery. 950cca/105ah. I paid $148 for it and people have found them online for $162. pn#61-21-2-353-814

Half the price of the Mercedes equivalent.

cool thread after getting through all the old stereotype and stigma comments early on. They have come down in cost quite a bit since the thread was started so maybe that has allowed more people to get in on the fun.

My family has 4 of these first gen now, three of which are on 265 bfg’s. Two S models(160&185k miles) one turbo(120k miles), one turbo S (275k miles) with three of them on air and my S on steel springs. All four combined were less than $40k. I’ll echo the sentiment that this is one of the most amazing all around SUV platforms out there for the money.

They have been generally reliable, go anywhere you really want or need to go without purposely trying to get stuck, and I’ve towed my ‘’little’’ travel trailer tens of thousands of miles since 2014. Even dragged it a few miles across the beach at Pismo dunes aired down to 18lbs once without issue. Never had a recovery strap on the front of this thing, only pulling others from the rear.

Looking at grabbing a second cayenne for myself soon as I just hit 180k miles (over 100k under my ownership). Thinking a newer ‘13-15 diesel model makes sense with an improvement in fuel economy. Once I do that, I plan on getting a little more serious about stripping some weight out and having more fun off road. I wound up here looking for some inspiration...thanks for the tips!

j'aurais aimer savoir les pressions que vous avais mis?
si sa claque? le comportement etc

Hi a quick question for dr-r2r I did the same operation on my cayenne with the upgrade kit and the bf goodrich 265/65/18 I wish I'd known how much pressure you put on yourself. What if it slams? What about the behavior Thank you

I run about 45psi for most road travel on my KO2s, and drop it down to about 18psi for off road travel.. for me deflating is a must as the air suspension gets rock hard when its aired all the way up.

We always debate when airing down.
How much to air down for traction - the flip side - on rough terrain how much ground clearance can we loose.
The only time we have had to use our winch was for snow runs.
Most times we lower the air suspension to pack the snow down then raise to drive off.

my ole lady wont leme hitup any serious trails w/out airing down.. I took her out to Sublime Point in Grand Canyon a few months ago and she told me the Audi was no good on those rocky trails, and she was not enjoying it.. then I pulled over and hooked up the deflators and a few mins later she was enjoying the trail and told me she didnt think it'd make that much difference or she'd told me to deflate before we even started (i forgot).. I need the clearance of full height and when the back tire would fall off a ledge I could feel my teeth rattling with the tires fully inflated, didnt loose enough deflating it caused any clearance issues tho.

I too have used the pack down technique, if the snow is light enough I'll just take the snow at mid height and always have +4in to lift if things get too floaty... but if its wet at all I fear ripping off my bumper so its all the way up, and pack it down if needed.

I've never driven in snow so had not thought of that, thanks, you never know, maybe one day that will come in handy. I live on an all sand island with no sealed roads, you only have to have more clearance than the lowest car that has been through before you. Sand is all about the tallest tyre you can fit at the lowest pressure you are game to drive on.

On road - 40-42 psi
Off road - 15-18 psi

Hello, to all.
I have been following this thread, which has some great info. and decided to share my 2010 TransSyberia build. All the modifications can be removed without damage and put back to stock. A few pieces would need to be purchased, but nothing severe.
The Cayenne was sent to SEMA Garage and scanned so the design could be done on cad cam.
I wired the lights using the switch pro system and the switch pad is mounted in the sun glass holder and the main wiring is mounted in the drivers rear compartment.
The roof rack is all aluminum and is bolted together. The first design was welded and it warped. The rack has compartments for Traction boards and has 40" fronty light bar, side lights, rear lights, lighted whip mount and pull out awning.
The rear tire mount was purchased raw from Wilco and we built our own tire mount.
The front bumper is mounted to the (2) tow hook mounts. There is a 12,000lb Warn winch hidden behind the grill and bumper. We had to cut the front cross memebr and fabricate a new piece to mount the winch. The winch is remote control

So far everything has gone together as planned. Next up will be full aluminum skid plates and rockers.
