Which fridge and where???

I have the Waeco CF-80. I haven't had much of a chance to use it yet but so far it's been good. I got mine on E-bay for new for $550 - the seller was btmlnerv. Have you considered the Autofridge? When I was looking around it certainly seemed to be the best out there (but the price reflected that as well). The eutectic fluid that surrounds the walls greats an ice bank which makes it very energy efficient = low run times during the day.

I've had mine for 2 years with no probs. When I first got it, it lived in the car for about 6 months and never got turned off:elkgrin:

If you can spend the bucks, go for the Engel or ARB. They draw less power and will run for years. I use my Engel 45 as a freezer and the only thing I did was put on the hinge kit and a thermometer.

Yeah, that's the one I was reading about earlier (thought that was what he was talking about, but wasn't 100% sure) - thanks. Not sure if it would help, the way my fridge is mounted it's easily accessible from either seat.

I just have to come up with a latch/catch mechanism to hold the lid open. I'm now thinking of possibly mounting a magnet to my cage that will catch & hold the lid up once fully opened. Haven't had much luck finding a small plastic catch so far. Also though about some sort of hook system or bungy strap, but I think that a magnet would be the cleanest install if I can get it to hold up the lid.

So I'm sitting here racking my brain for a hold-open strap for my lid....walked around Lowe's at lunch but didn't find what I'm looking for. I know that I've owned items in the past that closed using a small rubber strap with holes in it, that stretched and fastened to a small stud/peg thing. I'm thinking that if I can find something that comes with this type of strap I can cut off the strap and screw it to the front edge of the lid, then have a bolt up on my cage that would accept the holes in the lid strap.......kinda hard to explain.

Don't think the magnet idea will work as well as I thought.

What I like about the new hinges I installed is they do hold the lid in any position you put it in.

How's this one for high tech? After messing with the latch I was thinking.....maybe this isn't as complicated as it might seem.....yep velcro - works perfect ! I may upgrade the roll cage velcro to white at some point to make it blend in a little better.

I was thinking about possibly ordering one of those hinge flip kits just in case I want to convert it at a later date, any thoughts on that kit Wil?

I just ordered the all new ARB fridge. During my research I found this site so I thought I'd make my first post here a thanks! It's now 50 Quarts with a Danfoss compressor. It comes out of Japan and looks like it might be a metal Weaco fridge. It won't ship for a few weeks because it's still so new. I paid 650 from Performance off road center. Ask for a deal from Alex if you want one.
