Is the front spring hanger damaged? Looks like you'll need new shackles, shock, center pin (unless any of the springs are damaged)

That totally sucks. My worst fear is having someone hit one of my cars I built from scratch. Luckily your vans is fixable. I am sure the insurance company is going to try screw you over stand strong and put up a big fight and plan on it taking three times as long as you think it will to get your money and eventually you will get paid for your van. Good luck. I am a little curious it looks like the leaf centering pin is still in tack did it rip through axle perch or is it just an illusion?

The top nut and lower pin sheared off and are in the axle and lower shock mounting pad. The rest of the pin stayed in the leaf. The axle was pushed back along the spring and the ubolts kept it all together. Im preparing for a fight so we will see. Since its a 96 with 406000 on the odo and the frontcore support needs to be welded back on. Im expecting a total of the van and ill fight for the reimbursment of 4x parts and labor. Thats what the body guy thought as far as it being totaled

This might be hard to hear, but I bet they will total it.
They will look and say frame damage.
But that is in fact kinda good news...
You gather all the receipts for the original purchase, and the conversion....
You haggle for a bit and when YOU are happy, you ask to have the settlement check and keep the van. They will give you like 80% of the value, and you keep the van.
Happened to my son's '92 Cherokee, when he was T boned. he damage was a dent in the rocker, and a bent rear wheel, and rear axle. Replaced the wheel/tire and rear axle, for $200 from the junkyard, left the dent, and he put $2500 in his pocket for future mods!
Only down side he had was its now a salvage title... but he does not care!

Get your cash, keep the van and fix it as good as it needs to be for safe driving...
Put the rest of the cash into making it better!

Well im at a crossroad... Take the money and buy newer lower mileage van? Buy back old van and fix it. Buy back van and use for 4x parts. Or a newer 4x pickup or suv. Ive seen some 6.0 diesel ecos for about 8 to 10k around with lil over 100k miles....

But the insurance adjuster hasnt even seen my van so im thinking WAY ahead right now

Either way, do the deal and keep the van.
Repair it or part it out and keep the best bits for the next one.

The other option you have is if you don't like their settlement, you can always bargain with them. They really don't give a crap about the old vehicle, so get the best $$$ you can and then state you are keeping X parts from the vehicle. So take all the front axle parts that are worth salvaging etc for the new van.

This is a good idea. But I would wait & see what they say before putting too much thought into it.

There first offer will be a low ball offer don't accept it. Find all of the 4wd vans you can that are around the same year regardless of mileage for sale then print those off to show the insurance company this is what it would cost to replace your van. Use those as your baseline and argument for what you want to replace your van then when they finally come up to what you will accept then tell them you will buy it back (if that is what you want) for the totaled value they originally offered you. My girl friend wrecked her very clean one owner 98 v8 explorer with 180 on the odo, they offered her 500 dollars for it. She was pissed no accidents ever and the same company since she was 18 and that was what they offered her. After a few months of arguing and my coaching her she settled for 4200 and bought it back for the 500 they first offered her. I repaired it with prerunner fenders and some junkyard parts we had 700 into the repair she pocketed 3k and used it to put down on a new car and we kept the exploder for an extra toy to add to the corral. As long as you have something to drive in the meantime or if you can get it fixed and take your time arguing with them you will get enough to make worth your hassle. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

My father in-law is letting me use his car since he has a broken ankle and cant drive. But the insurance offered me a rental car. If it takes too long maybe ill take them up on the rental car offer.
One thing im having a issue with is the parts i bought of cl from other people i dont have recipts for. And i did all the work so no bill for the labor that was put into the swap.

Spend as much time showing them what replacement cost is as what it cost you to build. You will have a easier time explaining to them it cost X amount to replace. The other thing you can do is have Chris give you an estimate of what it would cost to by the ALL of the parts to get a van converted to 4wd that way you can say your van nada + that estimate is what it is worth that way it pays you for your time.
