Heres a pic of a falcon we got out of a wall. It was stuck in there for three days, so we fed it and let it fly around the office before releasing it. (wanted to make sure it wasnt injured)

We did the same, nursed a Kestrel like that back to health after it was caught by some yahoos who didn't know how to take care of it. Long story, but they turned it over, finally, to the San Diego Wild Animal Park/Zoo, and because of some connections we had with people we knew, we got to keep the thing for 4 weeks then release it. It was really great for three boys in grade school to be able to have something like that in their home for that time -- we fed it mice on the kitchen counter.

Can't remember what the bug is.

The snake is a Gopher snake, used to catch those all the time when I was a kid -- they can get really big.

The other "thing" is some sort of cocoon.

Went for a hike today in the hills above beautiful downtown Burbank. I stopped to take a picture of some of the few remaining Spring wildflowers. As I knelt to take the picture I noticed a repetitive pattern just above my head. This is what I found. Much more interesting than the flower I shot.

Heres my additions, all were shot in the wild with the exception of the Sumatran Tiger....that was at a local zoo.

Even in a Disco those things are scary up close, also stinky....

Horrible lighting, but he watched me for 30 minutes trying (without luck) to get the bison shot I wanted. It took me 25 minutes to realize he was there.

The good thing is, it's not a Coral snake. It looks similar to a Western Shovelnose snake. That's the closest thing I could find in my Audubon Guide to the Desert.
