winch anchoring question

a new Trophy event!!!!!

bury the spare?????

I think before i would dig to China.....I would bury my Hi-Lift jack in the ground.....One would think being somewhat heavy-duty would be a great option if a guy had no tie-off point to winch from!!!

This would make for a fun team event at the Trophy!!!!!

Here's my vision:

1)Stuck rig with a winch...

2)have a few item's to pick from to bury in the gound or what ever you what that could come off you rig.....spare tire, tire iron, hi-lift, and etc...(all teams are equal in items to pick from)(no pull-pals)

3)Team of 2 people, one shovel (one person digs and other rigs)

4)The team that burys their item and winches themselfs out passed the line wins!!!

What do you guys think????

If you use a danforth boat anchor you need weld some lugs on it to lmit its range and keep it pulling straight, otherwise you'll damage it. They are also a lot heavier than a pull pal and don't fold up as small.

Ground anchors are fairly common in europe for events....

As mentioned....

You can bury the tire, hi-lift, tire-iron, a log, big branch, etc. The best thing about burying a log is that you can just leave it in the ground. Loop your tow strap around the log, then when your done just pull the strap out with your stuck.

If there is just scrub brush around ( sagebrush size stuff ) you can daisy chain them together to create a winch point with a tow strap.
