Quick Story - The story of how I ended up as an ExPo junkie...
Shortly after my own daughter was born, a co-worker was telling me about his weekend; his brother had visited from back east, so my coworker, the grandparents, the brother, and a whole RV-load of everyone's kids went down to "Campland by the Bay" her in San Diego. (About as non-rugged as beach camping gets.) Apparently after about four measly hours, all of the kids older than about eight were all whining about having to be out camping and would all rather be back at home or the hotel playing XBox, watching TV, etc. The only kids who were digging it were the youngest ones.
The conversation reminded me of the countless camping trips my divorced parents had dragged me on. RV camping with Mom in Yosemite, quick weekend trips in the VW westy with Dad's new family to the desert, all of it. I wondered if I hadn't gotten started so young, if it would still mean so much to me?
Right then, I decided that MY DAUGHTER WILL GO CAMPING. OFTEN. And here I am. Researching, learning, and preparing myself and our vehicle so that she has at least the same set of experiences that I did.
