I actually ripped the lectures from cd's and threw them on my ipod for ease of use. Haven't really listened to them yet.

Hammin' it up

So I wanted to try & beat your score Ed, but only ended up matching it :sombrero:
There were 5 VEC's administering the test, and I was the only person who showed up to take it. They were so impressed that I aced it in 5 minutes, that they encouraged me to take the General exam right then. I thought, "sure, why not." But apparently, it's waaaaay harder. None of the questions on there were even remotely similar to the stuff I was studying for the Technician exam. They didn't tell me how many I got right, but it must have been really bad. But hey, at least I walked out of there with a Technician license.

I look forward to being able to ham it up with all of you too at the trophy event this year!!

Sorry Jeff, it was a spur of the moment thing. One of the VE's is a friend (didn't know he was a ham until a few days ago), and he pushed a button or two to get me to test on Thursday...

But I'd be glad to meet with you and shoot some questions at ya! The test really isn't all that hard.

My method of studying was to print out the question pool of 392 questions, and read only the correct answers & memorize those. It's grouped into 10 sections of similar topics, so it makes studying pretty easy.

I'm looking at the Yaesu 7800 and 8800 as well, both for the dual band. But I like the 8800 better because of the remote mountable faceplate.
