Would you buy a 2025 Tundra?

I want a new 1/2 ton. The Tundra engine fiasco was said to be resolved after the 2023 models. Now I've seen mention of a 12/24 demarcation. Obviously there is a generous power train warranty but a failed engine would be a PIA. Dealers here are offering an easy $6k off MSRP before negotiation. Thoughts?

My wife's coworker got one $15k off of MSRP. At that discount it would be hard to pass up. I think it helped she had a low mile Tacoma to trade.

At least Toyota has a history of fixing it's mistakes.

I just had a look at Consumer Report's assessment, and though the '22 and '23 models had a lot of issues, the '24 is much better... but then it takes awhile for problems to become apparent, so that wouldn't give me much of a warm feeling. I'd go in expecting it to be no better than anything else. See if you like how it drives, and if the pricing is good compared to the big 3.

I'd much rather have a good used '21 or older...

The 3rd gens are either great trucks, or a total lemon. There doesn't seem to be an in-between.

I have a close friend with a 23 and a cousin with a 24. Both love them and have had zero problems. I would buy one, but not with out a really good extended warranty.

The crazy thing about the 2.5 gens is they stopped losing value as soon as the 3rd gens started crapping out. I bought my 21 used for 35 about 2ish years ago and could probably sell it for that today.

I'd buy it if it's a hybrid and it's a deal, also the dealer must throw in some good extended warranty.

Doesn't matter where you go now, everyone has their own issues, Toyota has been good with it but the hybrid just reduce the "desire" to modify powertrain, put on some decent bolt on shocks and do 37s and just run it.

I'm sure it has gone up, I made a mistake of looking at new RHO, the general manager at the dealer wouldn't stop throwing me offers on the truck, it's actually nearing what I paid for in '21 + what I spent on mods, we have essentially the newest old truck.

The couple of times I've stopped by my local Toyota dealer, they mob me wanting to get me to either sell it to them or trade it in. I usually tell them that when I wear it out, I'll trade it in.
