Well good to see it's resolved. I'm personally a big Ironman fan. Them and TJM are going to be the Australian manufacturers that hopefully get us out of this ARB-only phase. Their work is very popular down there, just limited importing here apparently.

I feel the same way. We need a change of pace. ARB makes great stuff, but it's a bit repetitive. TJM impressed me with the bumper I had for my Landy too. I'm hoping Ironman will live up to my expectations.

With those prices, if the quality is comparable they will sure give ARB some competition. Same with TJM.

Windows XP? As sad as that is, XP is probably the best OS windows had to offer. What kind of SSD did you go with and how large?

Nah, Windows 7. I've had a lot of luck with it in the past, it's a pretty stable system. I'm not a big fan of 8. Which is why I switched when my computer crashed.

I forget the brand, I'll have to find the box. It's 1tb, just like my previous drive was.

Windows 8 sucks. It's only halfway decent on tablets. Win7 is a good upgrade .
A 1TB SSD? yikes thats expensive!

I hear you there. I ran a Win7 machine for a few years with zero major issues.

Haha yeah, wasn't cheap. But when my factory hard drive completely failed after less than a year, I figured it was one hell of a good excuse to upgrade. I'm a bit demanding with my computers. Hence the TB SSD, 8G RAM, Intel i7, and NVIDIA GT 650M. Oh, and the 17.3" screen :) All nice features in a laptop.

Very nice laptop build. I've built numerous workstations and gaming rigs and it is actually quite fun to put it together minus the hiccups on the first bootup. Enjoy your new upgrade!

Thank you sir! This is kind of my "do it all computer." I do a fair bit of gaming, so I like having the performance as well as being a capable work/school computer.

Tire Update

So, a bit of an update on the tires.

Yesterday, pretty much the entirety of Montana got hit by a pretty good snowstorm. Tuesday temps were up around 55F at 3:00 PM. Yesterday at the same time it was 4F. We got a good three or four inches of snow blanketing the ground, and I took the opportunity to test the tires, and the truck, out a bit more.

In 2+ inches of snow, these tires work really well. Zero sliding or spinning with the proper throttle control. They hang on and carve through the snow really well. Again, with proper throttle control, they managed to pull through most stuff in 2wd.

The roads quickly became slick with packed snow and ice, and this revealed a slight flaw, not in the tires, but in the truck. With proper throttle control, they do pretty well for what they are. They're no snow tire, but they handle themselves pretty well on slick stuff. However, the issue is with the truck. I say exercise proper throttle control because I have learned that a lighter truck such as this when equipped with a supercharged engine is... sketchy in the snow. With the typical VG33E this is no problem. I've driven base model Frontiers in slick conditions, not much drama. But this truck is very touchy. You have to be super ginger with the pedal or the tires will break loose in a straight line or send you into a slide when cornering. That engine just wants to wind up in a hurry. You even look at the pedal wrong and away those tires go.

That being said, these skinny Terra Trac D/T's make the sliding very predictable and very controllable. I have not once felt (and I've tried) like I was about to lose control of the truck. They really do just bite in and hang on, giving a good amount of traction despite the best attempts of that VG33ER up in front.

So, as far as the tires are concerned, I'm still confident in my decision. I am thinking of pulling off the supercharger belt again though :D

I've never thought of doing that before. Is there any other issues that would result from that ?
