what's a basha?

At my parent's house I have a set of DPM cammies, and a set of DPM rain gear (top and bottom), the older nylon/plastic type stuff. Size medium in both (I'm 5'8, 170, they fit well)

OK, I kind of get it. If a basha is supposed to be analagous to a tarp... why does that link to silverman's list a basha AND a "hootch shelter cover?"

Is a basha a small tarp, a poncho, something different?
