Good to see you got a build thread going! Would you say the 3 crossbars are necessary for your RTT? And do you remember what part number the yakima towers are?

I've always liked this third gen. Very well thought out, designed and put together. You really covered all the bases for an amazing 4Runner build up.

Great thread and photos.

Necessary, perhaps not but I do feel better with them. The Yakima bars are the same ones that would be used with the factory rack they just slide in. I feel like the load distribution is better, but that what happens when I run the numbers through my head. They are called Control towers. Also not pictured is a set of (1) of Q-towers that I mount above the driver ans pass. seats for additional load support when the roof rack is up.

Well looking back as w all do from time to time I think instead of switching to manual hubs I might have just straight axled the 4Runner. For what I paid for parts and labor I might have come out ahead with the SAS and still had a locker or manual hubs.

What kind of wheel is that in this pic?

Looks like an 8-lug steel wheel. Nice clean design.

Very well built rig! Mine is slowly moving in the right direction...

What gains do you see from the limiting straps in particular? In your opinion, would going to limiting straps extend the life of CV boots?

Now that you've had TJM, and ARB bumpers... What are your impressions on the TJM vs. the ARB(aside from mounting a winch).. quality? durability? impressions on strength...

The cooper stt is mounted to a ford f250 spare for a size comparison on what I'd expect when throwing (gentling placing) a tire on the rack. I wish I could find a nice set of steelies like the rovers use or a pair of Alcoa's similar to the rovers. The limit straps were a proactive move in order to not kill the cv's when flexed out. The front end has changed slightly as Sonoran Steel came out with new Bilistein 5100's for all four corners. I replaced the fronts and left a set of the lift spacers I originally purchased with the kit ( I had 1" or so in 2 sets of spacers) I mantained 3" or so of lift in the front. As for which I liked better TJM vs. ARB while the TJM is 3 separate pieces middle and two wings I have seen the wings welded on. The ARB weighs more as you can imagine but I feel it is certainly more stout and comes with the option of mounting God knows what to the upper rail if you so desire. Anything from lights, antenna's, limb lifters, Hi-Lift, RTT ladder, and so on. I hit a Corolla with the TJM at a fair speed and desroyed the Corolla but fared well if not perfect with the TJM. They are both steel winching bumpers and both performed as they are intended. I like the looks of the ARB. It has a certain Move biznitch get out my way quality to it.

What do you use the lights in the back cargo area for? They look like a light setup for S&R or something to do with emergency responding.

I do a few types of work that require them, I have since removed them because they weren't bright enough to punch through the rear window tint. The gen 3 LED's will punch through extremely dark tint, but I do just fine with my 4 corner strobes setup.

Secret... Agent man! ;)

Does the bar that was mounted inside stay on continueously, as well as flash?

I think it had 5 or 6 flash patterns and a steady burn. I picked it up on eBay, I have yet to replace it but think I will use the Lisc. plate mounted type next time around. Though if no more of that kind of work comes up then no go. And no no secret agent man here I do road construction and safety barrier systems.

XCRUNNER that 4runner is looking good!

By the way Those leaf packs I bought from you work great. I only had to remove one leaf and they flex pretty well too.
