Yet another tire/lift thread....

Right now it has 265/75R16 Goodyear Wrangler-somethings on there. Height is ok, a bit wide for my taste given the truck. This truck will most likely never be a serious off road machine, seeing most of it's time on-road or serving fairly light trail duty. No rock crawling intended here. Got other stuff for that.

It sits nose down in the front. Hate that. Tire clearance seems ok given it's current use, but don't like the rake. The rear seems plenty high for the tire size.

Wants:
Would like to get rid of the rake. Don't really want any lift beyond that, but...I also would like to stuff some 255/85R16 tires on there. Because I already have them, and they're practically brand new, as in maybe 3k on them at best. The Wranglers I'm guessing don't have a whole lot more than that, but I'd rather the narrower tire.

I'm a fish out of water with this type IFS having spent almost the entirety of my wheeling years riding solid axles all around. Leaf spring lifts are simple and fairly narrow in type. The Tacoma seems to have a warehouse full of different versions of lift. No rock crawling, no high speed blasting across desert washboard anticipated. I cant stand ARB type bumpers because to me it looks like somebody welded on the lions share of an off shore oil rig to the front of their truck, and I don't like the weight or profile, so no serious weight considerations on the front end. Out back the suspension is pretty soft. My ******** isn't "that" fat, but just jumping in the bed sets the springs down a bit. Rides ok though. I will deal with any weight carrying considerations via air bags, so I don't need any heavy duty springs back there so I can haul 2-tons of mulch from Home Depot.

Given it's stated use, what would be the general informed opinion on lift?

I just put ome 884's on the front of my double cab and dakar leaf springs I'm hoping to put cooper st 255/85/16 on next week.

Do you know what those are supposed to net you lift wise front and rear?

And for folks interested. Did my first highway trips today. Heading down to Cincinnati I got 18.8, though I did have just a bit of city type on that tank. Coming back I got 20.25. Not much in the truck weight wise other than a softopper, small toolbox behind the seat, me, and my 7 ft tall buddy. Yes, a 7ft tall man will actually fit in a Tacoma and with and inch or so of headroom to spare. Little factoid there. :)

Simple spacer lift, OME or Toytecs will fine for your intended use.

Spend a little more, and you can adjust the ride height to your taste

Yeah ARB bumpers are doofy looking, can't stand the way mine looks...I put it on for animal strikes...plenty of wildlife here in Idaho...though most of it is so huge
the bumper will go right under it, and it will come through the windshield.

For some reason I feel like toytec is the easy way out who has had good luck with their lifts. I called slee and told them to tell me what to do with my truck. Normally I fiddle fart around and do it my way and on my last 5 trucks Ive missed this time I feel like I nailed it by listening to those that know best.

If it were my truck I would probably run an OME lift on it due to the quality of parts and ride quality. Anything more would be overkill. I wish I would've bought 255/85R16s instead of my 265/75s.

Been doing some reading tonight and it seems I can use 5100s on the .85 setting, with my stock coils, and it should level it up. I'd have to check first and see if my spring pack has been updated, which in that case would require the 1.75 setting. Of course in that case I'm extending the shock and pre-loading the coil. If I need 1.75 of lift I'd rather pick up something that would give me that in it's "at rest" state.

My rear pack has 3 leaves plus an overload, so it would seem I need to lift the front about 1.75-ish. Given that my idea now is to pick up some adjustable 5100s and eibach 1.6 springs (or equivalent) and stuff those in there, leaving the rear end as is and everything hopefully leveled out. Make sense?
