OK, so I am not trying to hijack this thread and veer off topic, but I am going to anyways since you guys have been so much help already :p

I know I said that 33x10.5 looks odd to me, but I stand corrected! I think I decided to go with that size per recommendations I have seen from people. Now is $200 mounted and balanced a good price? I am getting 5 so it would be $1000?

Haven't been checking prices for those so I couldn't say. You may be able to get a decent deal on ProComp's right now though (buy 3 get 1 free) through 4wheelparts.com. You should actually post this on the main mitsu forum rather than in this thread so you'll get more responses from others who may know of a better deal.

Not really here
I actually have a set of ProComp mud terrains on my rig right now. They are a very nice tire and do wonderful on rocks and great in mud. They clean out very well and work awesome on the trails. Haven't had them in the snow or sand though. Highway noise isn't too bad so long as you keep them rotated. Mine are 32 11.5 and I went with some wheel spacers to get them to fit while still using the stock rims. I'm very satisfied with them. I'd get them again if the price was right.

So I am a very indecisive person; this I know about myself. LOL. Either way I am going with Hankook Dynapro M/T's 32x11.5 I am getting them for a pretty good price and reviews I have read have indicated they are good tires. We shall see. I hope they don't look too small especially since I have the OME suspension.

The great news is, I am in for the New Years trip!

...once I'm back at a PC.

Have any of you changed your mind/status for the trip? Did I miss anyone? Are any of you inviting other's who aren't already on the list?

ITENERARY: I'm still working on the meetup point, trail itenerary, etc. I intend it to be suitable for both beginners and advanced wheelers. I will post up both general area maps and trail overviews. If I can find them, I'll also post up gps waypoints.

I should mention that although the Cleghorn trail is considered by most accounts as an easy one, stuff can happen which can cause vehicle or personal damage and while we endeavor to avoid those situations sometimes we can't. That said if you absolutely cannot bear the thought of getting a scratch you probably shouldn't be taking your vehicle off road. While I'll do my best to point out the easier routes there is no way I can promise you that you won't get a scratch or even more.

WHAT TO BRING:
Comms:
- CB Radio or at least an FRS/GMRS radio. *
- Cell phone: Please send me your number. I will create an attendee list with everyone's cell number and send it to everyone. I need your number in case we need to contact you.
- 2M radio is also nice but most won't have it so also have CB or FRS/GMRS.
- Sat Phone or Spot is nice to have.

Clothing:
- Dress in layers. *
- Bring a complete extra set of clothes in a water resistant backpack or duffel bag. *
- Bring both warm and cold weather jackets. A 3-in-1 jacket is nice for this. *
- Bring a simple pair of work gloves to protect your hands from the elements and environment. They can be either cloth or leather.
- Try to wear warm shoes with decent heel & ankle support.

Vehicle:
- Please try and ensure your vehicle is in good working order. If you're not sure if it's good enough, ask.
- Engine oil (+1 quarts) *
- Transmission oil (1 quart) *
- Coolant (1 gallon) *
- Your vehicle must also have solid recovery points. * For Gen I and II Montero's I know where those are. For other rigs, they may or may not exist in stock form and you may have to add them yourself.

Misc.
- 1st aid kit * (simple or complex depends on your skill level)
- Water (in a 'bump' resistant container) *
- Food (both short term snack foods like chips, sandwiches, etc. and a couple of days worth of longer term canned foods w/ can opener) *
- Sleeping gear (0 deg bag if you have one, or several warm blankets)

This is a list just off the top of my head. While you probably won't use 90% of it, it's always good to be prepared just in case. I've put an asterisk after the ones I think you should always have when going off road.

Ray, I tried to PM you but it says your inbox is full.

A suggested place to meet could be at Bass Pro Shop in Rancho Cucamonga. It is right off the 15 freeway and in between the 210 and 10 freeways. Could be a good spot.

Yeah, as a recovering packrat, I hate that you can only have a max of 200 messages LOL.

Bass Pro Shop sounds good. Alternatively a gas station near there is also good so we can all fuel up unless there's one on the way to the trailhead.

I know one exit (north) past Cleghorn, there is a gas station and a McDonalds (in case some people want breakfast). I have no preference as to which one. Do we know an estimated time of departure?

Man...I REALLY want to go. My wife just drove to newport beach and back this last weekend. Took her @ 10hrs! I could do it faster in my 7, but driving a Monty with m/t's on hwy 5. It would take me 10 hrs. I still really want to go. It would be so much fun to get this many Monty's together!

Ray, put me on the maybe list. Hoping I'll have my rack by then.
