Superior Axle & Tube Seals
Have you heard about these - Superior Axle & Tube Seals ???
I have to agree that they help a bit, especially if you live in NW or similar, where you would get a lot of rain & water crossing situations...
Anyway, for those who are interested in more information, feel free to Google it, otherwise, I would have to say its a COMMON SENSE MOD...
Pictures as installation goes...
Seals (as they come in the mail)
The whole process is rather simple...
1. Remove the Wheel
2. Remove the brake caliper
3. Remove brake disk
4. Remove HUB
5. Pull out / Remove axle
(i believe that how I got here)
Have bunch of GREASE ready to go, everyone uses different ones, some marine type, others just similar to what I've got... per personal experience, cant say that it makes difference...
Carefully place the seal into the TUBE.
(I greased mine around the end that you input into the tube, to make it a smoother process).
I used 2 pieces of 2x4 (wood), one layed flat on the seal, the other longer to hit the flat 2x4 in order to get it inside nice and snug... like this...
Once in place & stuffed with GREASE, you can start putting it together...
Keep in mind, the TIP for using the Grease Gun, should face the right way out, in order to have easy access to it. Thats a matter of personal preference (I've got mine facing forward)
