i will be watching your thread! I love my expedition and would love to do some work on it someday to make it more trail worthy.
I have a 99. What engine do you have the 5.4 or 4.6?
well.. nothing special but at least a good platform for me and my family...
Here is my 99 "expedition" vehicle.
Some future upgrades will be:
-33" tires
-4.56 gearing
-edge programmer
-storage system in the rear
maybe
-some beefy bumpers and sliders
Gotta keep it the reliable family hauler as...
what about a 2004ish Tundra doublecab? Before they changed to the newer fuller size..whatever year that was?
They are bigger than a tacoma but not too big. more roomy and it at least has the v8 with plenty of power for hauling a trailer?
My thoughts at least!
you can use some rubber gas line and split it in half to cover the sharp edge of metal once you cut the fender. Since you live in such a salty area.. i would paint the edge just a little too just to be safe.
I did a DIY snorkel on my ford explorer using pvc a donaldson ram head like yours and...
I've only had mine for a month so i don't know about working in the cold.. but i did get the best buy insurance plan so if it doesn't work well in the cold.. they will fix it! haha
I love it though.. still figuring out how to use all the cool functions.
i just got a canon sx110 it is a point and shoot digital but it is a little more advanced one. It is about step or so down from an slr. It has a 10x optical zoom which is great. takes good pics of the kids and has image stabilization.
I love it and it was about $250.
here is a few pics of my $300 xj i found in the paper and then wheeled it to death.. actually it still runs after 6 years.. ii even drove it on the road for almost 2 years during college. Now it is strictly a trailmobile...
heres a pic in the Rausch creek parking lot after a long day:
here is...
This is totally awesome what you are doing and i can't wait to see the finished product.
As i am sure you will... you have to do some real conditions testing and report back on what you love and what your findings are.
Thanks for your work!
Here is our yellow Lab Dezzy. She's a dork but we love her!
These pics are older.. I'll have to try and track down some newer ones.
This is My wife with Dez the day we actually took her home
And this is our "Weed Eater"
AWESOME! I have always loved this rig. Keep us updated with your adventures and upgrades.
I have an expedition i would like to do something like this with.
1997 4 door Ford explorer:
most tools and food for a day of wheeling with 2 passengers
on the scales a right around 4800lbs. 20 gallons of fuel.
Not bad but i soon want to add a winch and front and rear bumpers, so that will easily put me over 5000.
