    2001 Yukon XL Towing Help

Eww really? On some of the long grades I'll be full throttle and slow down to 25 (from 50) before it will finally downshift on it's own. If there is traffic around I manually downshift to avoid slowing so much..

    2001 Yukon XL Towing Help

I tow an open trailer with my Jeep on it to go play at the offroad park. I have a 2001 Yukon XL, the trans has a new valve body from gmtransmissionparts and new(ish) fluid. It shifts fine when not towing, but activating the tow/haul mode it just about refuses to downshift when pull up a hill...

Jeep Commander as an expo vehicle?

3.0's were only available in XH's (international version) you can get them in the WK's but they are pretty hard to find. As mentioned WK/XK share just about everything but sheet metal and the third row. I owned a hemi XK for about 2 years, and still stay active with the facebook group/forums...

    XK or Durango?

hemi's were known for ticking, not sure about 4.7's As far as being beat on, I'd crawl under it and take a close look at the skid plates, chances are they bought it with the intention of offroading it and never did, or even if they did I'm sure it was BEAT, there are few XK/WK's running around...

    XK or Durango?

I can't really comment on that part, I sold mine shortly after 100k. The only issue drivetrainwise that I had was that it dropped a valve, but I was under warranty.. I had quite a few electrical gremlins which I haven't seen anyone else complain about, I was just bought that unlucky one it seems.

    XK or Durango?

QDII has ELSD QTII is brake controlled traction I had QDII with a hemi, I wheeled with a few QTII's and they didn't have any problem running the same trails as I did, might have taken a little more gas to make it happen but it wasn't really noticeable. I'd say it's still plenty capable...

    XK or Durango?

I only ever get 17 mpg's highway with my slightly lifted XK on 255/75 AT's. The speedo was corrected with a flashpaq. Just some real world numbers for you to compare and not get your hopes too high on saving at the pump.

Tell me about the Jeep Commander

My commander when not towing was getting 17.5 mpgs highway, with 32" tires on an OME HD lift. In the city it was around 12 mpgs.

Tell me about the Jeep Commander

I considered an LR3 also before buying the Commander and decided on the Jeep for the same reasons, along with the LR3 requiring premium gas.

Tell me about the Jeep Commander

I owned a commander for 2 years. I had a love hate relationship with it. with QD2 it was pretty much unstoppable, wrangler guys were always impressed what it would do offroad. QD2 is LSD's front and rear so other than the 4:1 low range it will be more capable than the H3. I towed a 21ft toy...

    ExPo Dads?

Make sure you have a kid carrier backpack, if you want to hike my kids sleep right in the pack, no need to plan around nap time. A lot of time they wake up if we stop. (I'm talking when my wife and I go together since I have twins) I wouldn't dare to try to complete a hike with my 2 kids...

    ExPo Dads?

Step up and do it. I took my 2 year old twins through 27 states last year while my wife was deployed. On top of other camping trips and wheeling trips. Just keep in mind they are in charge, or else you won't have fun.

    Got a ?

I started my twins tent camping at 6 months old. They are 3 now, and love to camp. We use a 2 room tent also, when they were smalerl it allowed a play and child care area and we all slept on one side. Now we put the kids in one half and my wife and I use the other half. It still gives them...

Quadra Drive 11 Unlock the transfercase in low range

It's all electronically controlled so I doubt there is an easy way to disable the lock up. Would it do any better if you got a front receiver and pushed it up instead of reversing it up?

    Electric guru's? Anybody?

(6*50 + 3000) = 3300 watts @ 12 volts is a 275 amp draw. I'd check your grounds to see what the issue is with your current problem. Assuming your alt is good and your batteries are good.
