I think I'll save that for another run, starting from Arrowhead. Some of us are only planning on one day so I will stick to the current plan as something achieveable and enjoyable by all.

Once again I second that motion.

Excelsior!
if I can arrange to stay late, after folks have set up their campsites, this looks like a fun and easy night run. Description courtesy of the SoCal Bronco site at: http://www.dustyland.net/socalbroncos/bbbb/trails.html

Saturday Night Lights
TRAIL: Butler Peak Fire Lookout
DAY: Saturday
STAGE SITE: TBD
RUN LEADER: TBD

DESCRIPTION: This night run consists of a quick, easy trail with a spectacular payoff at the end. The ride to Butler Peak is a fairly easy dirt road, but shear dropoffs along part of the route add to the thrills. At the end of the trail is a short walk up to the lookout tower on top of Butler Peak. This is the top of the world, with 360 degree views of the Inland Empire to the south, the LA megatropolis to the west, the high desert cities to the north, and Arrowhead and Big Bear closer by on either side. All of this is lit up in spectacular night lights. The Butler Peak night run is not to be missed!

Everyone who is going should post what kind of radio they have.

I have FRS, CB, commercial UHF & .VHF handhelds, and a cranky old dual band ham handheld.

If we all can have a common radio that is all I am trying to achieve.

BUMP!

I would also like to make sure everyone has recovery gear and am curious if there are any rigs with a winch

4. Rob (RobTheBrit) Unimog
5. Paul (Roverholic) some sort of Range Rover?

I'm installing my ARB bumper with an M8000 tommarrow. What else do you want us to bring in reguards to recovery equipment??

I plan on bringing:
Hi-lift
ARB Tire Patch Kit
Compressor
Tools
Sand Ladders
Axe/Shovel

Cant think of anything else you would want.

Heck now that I think about it. Who needs all of that When there's a handy dandy Uni coming along!!!!!

Thanks! I just want to see who is equipped, even if it is mostly shiny new like mine. :jumping: On my second Gold Mountain trip when one guy had a flat at the rock shelf, he had a lifted vehicle with a winch but had no Hi Lift jack. The first Hi Lift brought over was old and not maintained and it stuck in the lifted position. The second jack brought over was SO new that the paper instructions rolled up in the handle fell out when we jacked the truck up to extract the first jack. We had a lot of good laughs over all of that but it was good that we had enough gear in the group to help each other.

I have:

48" Hi Lift (no instructions in the handle but pretty shiny!)
plastic base plate
various Hi Lift goodies and winch stuff in a kit
slider adaptor
recovery strap
extra shackle
tree saver strap
tow rope
hydraulic bottle jack
tire repair stuff
air compressor
shovel, axe, bow saw and sometimes a prybar
hitch shackle in the towing receiver

I am still waiting to find out if folks have two way radios!

Hi Jim,
I'm hoping I can come join in the fun for at least one of the days. I'd like to do John Bull again -- just finished up a complete suspension over-haul and need to test it on some rock-hopping. 2N17X and Dishpan are always fun too. Looking forward to meeting my neighbor Rob and seeing the Mog wheel. If my fat but will fit, I think his will too!

Hope that you can make it! I know that there are some other tentative folks who can't commit until the last minute. I think after this the San Diego "crowd" should organize a meet and greet and possibly some of us can drive down to that one too.

Looks like I'm in for Sunday (maybe Sat pm?). What trails are y'all planning to run on what day? I was hoping to do John Bull again, but you'll probably do that one on Sat. Dishpan is a fun one. I'll attach a picture of the fun part (the Devil's Slide, I think).

I also have a winch plus all the necessary recovery gear (a strap is most often a better and quicker recovery tool). I also have a pull-pal that we won't need and a hi-lift jack if anyone need their skull thumped by an out of control thrashing handle.

We'll only do the "easy" part of John Bull between 3N02 and 3N32. Hoping that I have read everthing about it correctly. Otherwise we can do the long and easy White Mountain run. Or maybe both....

On Sunday you'll want to hook up with these guys to plan the runs as I won't be there unless my schedule changes:

1. Rob (RobTheBrit) Unimog
2. Mike (Wanderer) 94 XJ
3. Richard (Rmarz) 05 Jeep Rubicon L-J
4. Chris (ujointclothing) '06 E350
5. Ron (Ron B) Big RED H-1

Hey Ujointclothing, I don't know your name or vehicle. Please post up!
