If you had to sell one?

Everybody has looked at this as to how much better the 100 would be as a DD and family hauler...

It probably would be...

But perhaps you can divulge a bit more info on the Domestic Full-size you are pondering, how you are planning on using THAT vehicle.

If that rig is to become your DD, then sell the 100.

If that rig is meant to become your weekend rig, sell the 80.

There is only 10k difference in mileage, so not sure that is as much of a factor.

You know that's a great question! I'll admit I think a mini-van is the right solution. No seriously, I do. Wifey ain't be wantin' non'a that tho'. This is what I envision as the perfect family truckster:

5 persons, 80 lb dog, I pack camping gear and a backpack and the kiddos and wife pack for Armegeddon:

We take at least quarterly trips through and to UT/CO and often then across I80 into WI. The 2200 could much more easily be handled by a full-sized diesel not to mention the cavernous amounts of space in a bed.

Truck as a DD? Very likely, again couldn't be worse mileage. It was this that got me thinking about it.

This is a great point. I sold the 100 because with no kids and car pooling to work with my wife, I wasn't driving it. The 55 will not be a DD. That's what the Saab is for.

I'd keep the 80 if its only going to be for fun. But, atleast with me, I usually end up driving it more than just for fun, because I enjoy it so much.

I'll change my mind for you, just keep both and DD the 100

I think the 100 is just as capable as an 80, I just think it requires better driving and more work. There is no doubt that the 80 an make a lot of situations really easy where a 100 will make work of them. I have to agree with fat_man. You may want to base it of what you are buying next.

I say keep which ever one brings the biggest smile to your face. It's easy to go by the numbers, but if you don't enjoy/like or find excuses not to drive it, then why keep it? Keep the one that you look at in the windows of buildings as you drive by (or is that just me?).

You crack me up... Tell Jess to just get over the stigma and buy a damn minivan, at your rate of reproduction nothing else really fits the bill. As for the 80 or 100, who cares, they are both great rigs but I know you have much more attachment to the 80.

If I had my choice back I would have stuck with my 60 and forgone the 80 and the JK...

I say keep your 100. You didn't really want to sell it to me before anyways.

That way you can sell me your 80's headgasket!!! haha! I just dropped my 80 off at LC Engineering for some super secret stuff... Good luck with this decision. It's a toughie.

I agree with Pete - The 80 is a bit dated and it is also a good time to sell...

I know LandcruiserPhil sold his 80 and now drives the 100 exclusively - he has many good things to say about the advantages :)

Per the last 100 vs 80 discussion I had with Phil... he's looking for another 80. While he does tout the niceties of the 100 he's looking to get back into an 80. What's that say? I don't know... I say sell the 100, not because the 80's better but because you will get a better resale value and lessen the load put on your wallet by a domestic money pit. ;) ;)

Does anyone feel like there's someone missing from this thread? :)

I've remained silent long enough:shakin:

Or perhaps you meant the OTHER one:)

Sell them both, and get a newer 100 series with proper equipment like TRAC and VSC.
