Does anyone have the time and the interest in adding a few days to their trip either before or after the weekend?

I've got more time than sense and I may plan to stay longer than the scheduled time.

I've got quite the hankering to run HITR again or at least spend some more time around Moab.

I may be able to take the following Monday off, not sure right now. I have been playing with the idea of hitting Elephant Hill and spending the night in that area...I am already planning on going down Thursday night.

I have an uber-secret camping spot that we could stay at, it is up near Dead Horse Point. I would need everyone to sign in blood an oath to keep it secret though:)

I also know of a couple of other free spots that are off the beaten path that allow you to not be close to anyone else, ideal for dumping bodies and such:oops: kidding!

As long as their room for lots of rigs, legal camping spot, no fresh bodies laying around and we are able to have a camp fire......I'm game!

Hmmm...I guess we may need to revisit that, I am not sure we could have more than 5 or 6 trucks in there...

Well, if there are any fresh bodies lying around, we won't have to bring food. :shakin:

We're probably outta luck if they're not fresh.

A couple extra days would be great. Here's where I'm at...we close on a townhouse next Friday, and we have two weeks to move...I'm waiting on a bunch of parts that I can't wheel without (proper rear brakes, ebrake, pressure switch, front gears), if I can get everything installed in time I'll be there and if Katie has time from school we'll take an extra day or two. Whew.

Arch Canyon would be fun but I don't know if you can camp there. I'd like to do some stuff in the Sand Flats Rec Area, and Kane Creek sounds like a good time as well. Cliffhanger, maybe. Depends on the weather...maybe just the front.

I'd really enjoy doing Lockhart Basin. Not so much Needles tho, unless you guys would be interested in camping in Devil's Kitchen or farther south, or at Peekaboo, and doing some hiking on either the Angel Arch trail or up Horse Canyon, or on Joint Trail from Beef Basin Road. We've been all over the Elephant Hill area from Beef Basin quite a few times now, a different area would be great for us at least.

Of course, this is all academic if parts are slow to arrive and/or time is short!

That would depend on getting bc permits and I would go Sunday night...

I don't have any experience with the permits. Any skinny would be appreciated. Plus, I'm only interested in the areas where my 4-legged navigator is welcome.

I will contact the Park and see what is up. Another thought is to take back roads out of Moab, and run trough the San Rafel Swell via dirt to Price. No permits there...plus is there is some good hikes around there, cool slots and such as well. I am still open to whatever.

As long as we're outside Natl Parks, we're good for 4-legged navigators :).

Rats!

I'm not going to make it west in November.

I need to be (relatively) responsible and use my time away from the office to get work done on the 109.

You kids have a great time ... it looks like the next time I'll be out that way will be next Sept. for the Rover Rally.

Best,

Keith
