The long arm probably helps. Also the Np242 transfer case is worse for causing vibrations. As well the D35, especially so is also worse for causing vibrations. Not sure what running gear your sporting. Plus it's also a bit of a crap shoot I'm sure. Some people get it some people don't

Tires... Tested.

Went to my brothers in laws this weekend to oils pray the vehicle and do an oil change. But that wasn't the exciting part. There's a "road" nearby the runs between some farmers fields and it can get a little slippery and mucky out there so we figured we'd try the new tires out.
Let me tell you they are no where near as good as a MT is but they still surprised me!
Now for some pictures

My favourite picture so far:

And here are some pictures of my brothers and I's rigs together. He has a 2001 Nissan Xterra with ~2" lift and some 235/85/r16's. As mentioned earlier we will be taking both of these vehicles down to Maine in the fall of next year for a week of camping, exploring, off-roading and hiking.

You can see the difference in width here. His 235s vs my 215s

Next up is a new rad, Still having some heat issues. And a slow leak in coolant. Hopefully this will fix it. Also getting the only spot of rust on the vehicle fixed before winter. At the same time I will install new front tow hooks as wel will have most of the front end apart anyway.

Inset from the fender a little to much for my liking. Will most likely get some spacers down the road.

Don't put them too far out there! You'll end up with the issue I had with the wheel/tire combo that came on my XJ. Muddy sides just from driving down a wet dirt road!

I swapped the wheels out for some stockers and it was much better!

30-32psi would suffice, 40 is way overkill and you'll probably wipe out the center of the tread prematurely with the tires being over inflated. The high air pressure you're running explains why the traction was limited on the muddy 2 tracks you were on. The tires were too stiff and you were skating around like it was ice!

No I totally understand that. I didnt air them down as it was a short little stretch and wasnt worth it.
As for the tire pressure for the road, I will be sure to check that the tread is fully touching and not running on just the centre. My point of reference is my brother running his 235/85s. He runs 45PSI with no issues.

Just thought i would post a quick picture of the tow hooks and brackets I picked up for a cheap price. The bumper has to come off to mount these.

Well it's been well over a month since I posted. Still waiting to install the front Towhooks. I've got a rad sitting waiting for me to have time over Christmas to replace it. Hopefully this will solve my slow leak issue. I've also had my battery tested recently. It's done for and is not holding charge. I'll be getting a new battery over Christmas as well and that should solve that.

Ive been looking into some armour for my next steps. I like the warn transfer case skid and I have found a used one for sale. I have concern about 2 things. Firstly on the Warn website it states that their skid does not work with the 242, which I have. I had never head this before, but as the 242 is somewhat rare this could be why. I do however have a 1" transfer case drop. This could potentially solve my first issue. However it may cause another issue. As the skid bolts to the crossmember that is dropped 1" as well as the "frame rail" of the Cherokees unibody. I'm sure it would be easy to put a spacer in place and bolt it up. But would this in turn just create a shovel to grab dirt? I love the idea of some protection but it seems like a bit of a headache for this piece.
I have contacted Warn to see what they have to say.

My other thought for armour is Differential covers. I have narrowed it down to 3 options.

1) Buy covers from Solid at 65 bucks a pop, have them shipped just across the border and go pick them up. Done.

2) A local guy near me will take your stock diff cover, weld on some thick plate for protection for 45 a pop.

3). Buy a Terraflex D30 diff cover for 100 locally and then get the local shop to do my rear D35 as Terraflex does not make one for the D35

Any advice would be much appreciated guys!

I've had super good luck with my D30 Solid dif cover. It's met rocks and ledge numerous times and just laughs at it. Definitely worth the coin.
No matter what you install for covers tho, put some LubeLocker gaskets on them. You'll never regret it!
