I think Chevy's top level trim is LTZ. LT is probably same as SLE.

LT is the highest non-off-road trim level for the Chevy.
The SLT is the highest non-off-road tirm level for the GMC. Between the two, the GMC SLT has a nicer interior than the Chevy LT.

there ya go pnut,...thanks rkj

How's this for a , I was going to say, 180, but its more like a 1080! I have my JK unlimited pretty well traded on a new Nissan Micra. Ha ha. We rented one last year for a week long trip in Nova scotia and loved it. So, when the opportunity comes to even swap my JK for one, with only 6000kms on it...so, it has full warranty, 3/4s better gas milage, and great driver, we jumped on it. I should have it monday evening.

Gets between 4.6-5.4L/100km compared to 14-16.8L/100km with my JK. Road trips are going to be frequent with this little get up. We are now switching our expo rig to the patriot we purchased last year. The extras are coming fast and furious for that now. That will take the place of the JK, which it can no issue with the lift and bigger tires, because I owned one before with those items and it worked great.

Told you I have ADD.

I'm the same way. Thinking 2012ish reg cab 5.0 f150 or maybe find one of the last six speed gasser f250's, 2008ish. The little dogs would fit better in the superduty. I've been seriously considering a new truck for about a year...

No they don't sell them in the US....to small and fuel efficent to sell there. its not a big car, but it sure is fun, and....after some bigger tires and eibach pro kit springs, its like a go cart. It sum is greater than it's parts.

The Colorado isn't that small, about the size of 80's fullsizes. Be curious to see how the GM version of the VM diesel holds up...if they are having problems in the Ram, makes you wonder about the GM's.

According to Fuelly, the GM's aren't getting that much better fuel consumption than the Ram's.

It's really interesting that for as much as you dislike diesels, you sure do make a point of popping up and commenting on diesel-related threads.

Fuelly isn't the best of comparison tools for mpg. The diesel colorado is rated for 20 city/29 highway compared to the Ram's 19 City/ 27 highway. By virtue of having 2 less cylinders in an inline configuration, the 2.8L duramax will have marginally better fuel economy versus the 3.0L V6 ecodiesel. Plenty of owner feedback on forums and in vehicle reviews have stated that the Diesel Colorado is capable of getting low to mid 30's in the right driving conditions...I don't think the ecodiesel gets that good of mpg.

OP, I think the Chevy Colorado diesel or GMC's version is a great vehicle to get for overlanding. It's basically what everyone wishes Toyota would do with the Tacoma. The only thing I don't like about it is the auto-locker on the rear axle, but supposedly an off-road ZR2 version is in the works with front and rear selectable lockers. And yes, this engine is made by VM Motori, but I wouldn't let that dissuade you. They're a well-known engine maker that sells their products globally. This 2.8L engine, and earlier variations of it, have been sold globally for well over a decade now.

While a ZR-2 is certainly in the works, and undergoing extensive testing, there is no concrete evidence indicating what type of locker(s) it will or will not have. The prototype had front and rear selectable lockers, so many enthusiasts are hoping they make it to the production truck.

In many situations the auto-locker works quite well. But, it is poorly suited to rock crawling applications. Rock Crawling + Wheel Spin + Sudden Locker Engagement = Not Ideal, but can get you up and over an obstacle that would halt a vehicle with open diffs only.

I don't understand why chevy and ram cannot put a real locker in their trucks.

I'm assuming you mean Ram 1/2 ton. But I agree with you, and that was one of the things that had me scratching my head reading the article. Cost can't be the issue here, right? Glad Ford gave me a selectable locker.

No matter, there is no convincing people once they're of a certain age and they've set an opinion. It's their loss. I really want one of these. I really like the color of your rig.

45,000 miles on my eco diesel in 18months....almost all with my own version of the AT flippac....airbags on the back for help leveling with my 14x7 trailer...or when I put 28 bags of concrete in the back in addition to 800lbs of tools and topper...

LOVE MY TRUCK!!

26mpg mixed at 65-75....I have gotten as high as 31 if im taking my time and sub 70...with a CC 4x4!!

8hr days behind the wheel no problem

I was in the same boat 2 years ago...consolitated my fleet...and ford REFUSES to build a 1/2 ton diesel...so I got my ram...

build thread below...

never once regretted my decision..

Nice. That's the kind of mileage I'd have hoped for.

Yet another thread drift: How did the Tundra compare to the old F150 and current Ram? Looks like you got good miles out of the Ford.
