The Ultimate Awning-shelter?

El Gringo Spectacular!
I've used the Hannibal on my 80 series, and am mounting it again on the Troopy for trips (I can't fit in the garage with it on all the time).

I really like the enclosure option...gives space to get out of the wind, sun etc. Now we'll likely put a port a crib in it for the little one...

I don't use an awning attached to the truck nor anywhere the hell near it as most places I travel, truck's either a big mud ball or has dust clouds coming off it, I often pine for the day when they'll pave the roads right up to my favorite campsites and fishing creeks though ;).

Here's a handy 20 ounce 10' x 12' rectangular tarp I usually string up as an eating area cover, over tent rain shelter or wind break. I often like taking it with me hiking though as it's always handy to have a bit of sun or rain shelter some days and this one put into a ziplock bag with some cordage folds up small enough to put in a jacket pocket or small hip pack.

If I was to use an awning off the truck, or string up a truck cover it would be this one though both because of light weight and small packed size.

I saw that on mud as well. Some guy over there is producing them. That price is a introductory price. I'd like to see one in person. They look comparable to our Fiamma or a ARB unit.

It does look nice, but I wonder if its a rebadged something else, that tent on the site sure looks like the mombasa....

I know for sure it's not a re-badged Fiamma.. cause its struturally different. However, you may be on to something here... it may be a ARB knock off (like the Mombasa tent/ARB tent) because the zipper and material looks identical to my Mombasa tent cover!! And uses the same extruded aluminum channels!

Im going to get a hold of someone and see what i can find out.

As important as the water proofness of the fabric, is the slope. A nearly horizontal sun shade is going catch rain, and let it pool. Even the waterproof Kelty carport needs to be rigged with water drainage in mind.

Did you find any information?

I am also interested in the campinglabs awning 200.00 vs ARb awning for 349.99.

I have the Camping Labs one.
I picked it up a few weeks back.

Fernando owner of Camping Labs made me some custom brackets that work with the two channels on the back of the awning and the Yakima crossbars on my rig.

It is self standing, but comes with guy ropes and stakes for using on the top poles, and the ground loops at the bottom.

I set it up no problem by myself, just a little awkward the first time getting use to it.

Corey,
Your awning looks nice! However I wonder how the soft cover would hold up especially on overgrown trails? My Fiamma with its hard cover has been through heck and back with regard to holding up to scraping tree branches ...

Nice very nice!

I think I will give the Campinglabs a try!

Thanks guy's.
Not sure how it will hold up on a trail.
Most of the places where I go are pretty open though with some tight spots.

I will give this one a try, and maybe try out the Fiamma down the road too.
