ARB Twin High Performance 12 Volt Portable Air Compressor (CKMTP12)

Anyone own this unit that comes with the carry case?
I want something to supplement my Powertank, and I just gave away my Q50 compressor to my youngest son.

This is an expensive one, right around $800 or so, but I hear it is one of the best portable non hard mount ones out there.

PS, if anyone has the vehicle mounted one too and you like it, let me know.
And are the hoses interchangeable between it and the Powertank?
Powertank uses standard pneumatic female/male hose couplings.

Personally, for that amount of cash, I'd buy another CO2 tank and a Viair pump, that should cover you and save $250 for gas. I've got a Viair 300 and have no complaints, other than it being a bit warm after throwing 20lbs back into each tire.

I would like to stop by your shop and check one out.
I am just down the street from you at the Longacres site.
Have already talked with Wil at Sierra about getting one.

Been using the hard mounted twins on the E7 rigs around the globe, airing up, cleaning out trucks with the blow nozzle, etc... zero issues. I'm considering adding the portable unit to our rental gear offerings.

Kurt:

Are you guys running them with tanks or just the compressors themselves?

Thanks,
Todd Z.

All 3 rigs have integrated tanks. The Sherpa VDJ79 is running the ARB offering and the 78's are running a similar size hard mounted tank. While not mandatory it is very useful... we were able to reseat a bead on this last trip using only compressor, dish soap and a couple sets of hands.

Love my Puma, had it for about a year now. Charge the tank once in the morning and it operates my lockers all day without cycling, though this speaks to the tank more than the compressor. It has no problem filling up my 35's either. Got it used here for $150 shipped.

If you have $800 to spend on a compressor, you probably can't do much better than the ARB. If not, get a puma. I love my single tank.

I know the Puma is a great options but lets compare apples to apples. Does Puma offer a portable model capable of running air tools similar to that of the ARB? Outout and duty similar? I was under the impression the Puma offerings were more in line with the performance of the ARB medium option which is sub $300?

I guess if you need your compressor to be portable then the ARB is your winner. Personally an air hose works fine to get the air where I need it.
The Puma has a 100% duty cycle, draws 20 less amps, and puts out 3.0cfm @ 90psi.
I couldn't find any info on the ARB cfm @ 90psi.
And the Puma is 1/4 the price of the portable ARB kit.

I have one mounted in my FJC. I have no problem filling my 33s. It replaced my Power Tank, which I don't miss. The hose connection is the same as the Power Tank. I haven't connected a tank yet, but haven't really felt the need. It's a pretty stout compressor, and I like ARB's service and quality standards.
