So I'm buying a van...

Shocker

VanDOOM!
She did say she was going to be gone for the weekend. Maybe she is decompressing. I wouldn't give up on her yet.

Although she did seem annoyed with some of the things said in the thread. I hope she finds her rig and lives the dream!

I'm still here :) was just taking a little break.

I did put an offer on the vanagon and then later reneged after a long conversation with my dad... so I'm not sure where i'm going for here... since I lack direction :wings:

So for the maybe sexist remark.. Cole was listing the reasons that the vanagon wasn't a good choice for me, and one of those items was "SHE wants to "shuttle" other kayakers up the river"... or something like that. Since the vanagon is a great shuttle rig, I guess I don't see the point you were trying to make? And by capitalizing "SHE" it sounds like you're making a point of me being female, and that's why it sounds sexist... that's all... I'm not hugely offended or anything, but I still don't see your point.

If there was capitalization of "she" then it was an autocorrection fault. :coffeedrink: Damn phones! :coffeedrink: The point was "probably" the lack of great roof space and seating. It was just a list of items YOU had listed as criteria for a van purchase.

hey no problem... it has the longest bars you can get on there, I think, and seatbelts for 6... nothing else I was looking at has come close to that kind of seating capacity... if you're talking about legal capacity anyway....

The EV I posted a few days ago would be a steal, also has seating for 7!

Alright....I'm curious! What was dad's take on this?

well obviously he didn't like it :)

after i showed him that one he spent hours looking up vanagons. he felt that i was paying too much and getting a less solid vehicle than some others that are out there, and he just generally had a bad feeling about it. He also felt the van was severely devalued because of the paint job... I don't care so much about that, unless I want to sell it... then it will matter. After the seller talked to his mechanic, he didn't think what my mechanic said was right at all... although I think some of it might have been. There are varying opinions on value over at the samba too, but my dad agreed with mine over his.

felt pretty bad going back on my offer, but i was torn... and i figure if i'm not totally sure, then i probably shouldn't buy it. it's a lot of money and a big decision.

I know you liked it! But if it wasn't right, then move on!

Obviously there was a lot of pushback on that van from many people? Just means a better option is around the corner!

if only my yaris was a little bigger.. i love that car and had a lot of love for it when i was camping this weekend. though not when i couldn't stay at my first two camp choices due to low ground clearance and too much snow. third spot was good though....
