WTB Filson Outfitter Bag and a 50% off deal

Filson stopped making the Outfitter bag and I need to replace mine. Do you have one in any size or color that you are not using?

Mine wore out but it worked for what I do.

I have a field bag, brief case and shot shell bag. All approaching 15 years old. They look like hell but I can't imagine them ever "wearing out". If it's just a busted zip or broken strap, send it to Filson.

At 15 years I thought mine was getting ruff but at 21 it's done. The material on the sides of the zipper wore threw in a few places and the bottom is thread bear with holes. I sent a nice letter to Filson along with the bag just asking to fix the hole in the bottom and sew in a new main zipper. To my disappointment I got this letter:

Thank you for your recent order with Filson.

We wanted to let you know that, according to the Repairs Department, the zipper on following item cannot be repaired and the bag cannot be replaced because it is discontinued:

Extra Large Outfitter Bag (Style # 239) in Tan

They have provided the options of returning the item back to you as it is, or replacing it with a new item of a different style, or issuing you an Online Gift Certificate in the amount of $440.00.

Please let us know how you would like the Repairs Department to proceed by replying to this email or calling in to our Customer Service Center. We are available weekdays from 6am to 6pm, Saturday from 7am - 4pm Pacific Time at 1-800-624-0201.

That's a drag! Not because it wore out and they are returning my money but I need that bag for my occupation. My dirty service manuals fit in that bottom compartment. And the size and height of the handle is just the right size to ride on my large roll around pelican. The pelicans wear out as well but they send me parts. Personally after 20 years I'd like the old bag repaired and I know they could do it. I'm going to ask again but if not what non roller bag would you get with the money?

My saga continues,
I was in Denver yesterday so I stopped in a Filson retail store. They sold the last bag last month. I then called Filson from the airport to get a response on my email that asked a second time for a repair and had to leave a voice mail. I get an email saying they are tring to find a zipper and if they can find one they can mail me a zipper and my old bag and I can sew it in. Denver on Friday, home in AZ today, Flying to Housten tomorrow then back to Scottsdale AZ on Monday and El Paso TX on Thursday. I need a bag not a zipper so I emailed back and requested to send Pullman bag and a small tin duffle. I'll pay the difference giving them some biz as a way to say thanks. No response yet.
6 miles from home in old Cave Creek is a Filson dealer Watsons Hat Shop. Owner(hellofaguy) Eric did not have that bag but I told him what I do and about ExPo and he gave me over 50% off in stock items. He can't advertise it but I told him I could so call 602 419 6436 an ask for Eric or his mom and tell them you are from the expedition guys I told them about. Bags, belts wallets ect I even scored a dog collier and leash for Buddy.

Buddy needed a leash as you can see his redneck self walking into the store and then immediately sniffing the butt of the dog maniquin in the store as he sports his new high end look. He takes after his owner...What can I say?

Not sure what the bag is built like or what kind of zipper it is but any specialty sewing shop should be able to replace a zipper for you. Hell I'd be half tempted to take a crack at it. I'm always up for a challenge.

What great sounding folks but no outfitter. I have a bid in Temples link as well but in the mean time Filson is sending me their Pullman bag.
Great warranty and customer service. FWIW due to popular demand they are going to release a new version of the outfitter bag in the fall. That bag works great because if it was not full is smashed down to carry on size, it separates shoes and dirt on the bottom and as you live out of it the dirty clothes are separated by tossing then in the sides. Lasting 20 years of constant use, lifetime warranty and the cost has become $11.25 per year for me. Did somebody say their stuff was expensive? It's a bargain.

My local has them in stock for 50% off so I looked. It is same roller system that everybody else uses. The large roller duffle was nice if you need a huge bag. You could stuff a body in it. I'll be sorry I didn't buy it some day. The regular suitcase style roller is a joke. It looked to me that the straps are for looks. That trend seems to be creeping into their lineup. Too bad. One thing that was awesome and the only thing not on sale or not on Filsons site was new camera bags. I don't know the market on camera bags but I'd venture to say they will sell very well.
