Installing them on your Jeep will be more effective.
Indeed.

Adam is impressed with em. He's had long range 70w halogens on his Ram, swapped for Rigid Dually, a 20" double row Chinese bar on his Razr, and lots of OEM setups. Also was a fairly accomplished MX racer back in the late 90s so he knows how to go fast. Even has a "Raptor Track" in the back yard, and took this setup to Little Sahara in OK

"(1/2) Very functional.... brightness and throw distance is good, seems well built, like the mounting and filter options. Do I think they were worth $400.... (2/2) maybe not."

He's cheap.

50-70 yards past high beams is not a long way. I wish I had a way to post my photos of my Hellas. I am about 500 yards or more past my high beam lights. A yard and a meter are close to the same measurement.

Let's just say these lights are not good and I send them back/sell them, could you tell me what HID's you folks have and where I could purchase them?

I have hella 500 driving beam housings and 4300K 55w HID from VVME.com. They have lasted since 2010, and I now have to replace the bulbs. One is going a little purple/pink/brown. That's what happens when the bulbs start to go. But 5 years out of a very high output bulb is nothing to scoff at. MUCH longer than the 130w halogens they replaced which burnt out every 5 -6 months, and the HID have about 2 times the output. There is no light that I have seen personally with my own eyes that come close to these, and NOTHING in the same price range. They are the best light I have seen in person. I have seen, a yaffle of rigid and Chinese LED bars all were crap, A set of Baja Design squadrons, not bad but no good for higher speed travel that I do, and I have seen just about every Halogen light on the move now. The 500s with the HID setup works awesome. I am also guessing that 90 percent of the halogen lights available would be just as good with HID. IPF 986 housings with the dual style reflector seem to be interesting. My wifes uncle has a set on his jeep im trying to get him to install HID in them to see how they work.

No problem. If you google that you can get some people who posted shots to get an idea how far they go down the road. I have a couple of shots here from my phone but can't post them.

That's 50-70 yards (150-200ft) past 2014 Raptor high beams. Not the candles a JK comes equipped with. Also, this is the smallest of the light cannons.

Yes, I know....however, I have truck lite LED headlights, miles better than the stock candles in the JK. and my HIDs go well past them. You don't even know the high beams are on with the HID on.

I have been leaning towards the retro fitted HID Hella's. For the price and the light output you really cant beat them.

Got my bumper, winch, and lights all installed today. Lights work great. The build quality is the same as what was posted earlier in this thread.

The real questions are:
1. How effective is the lighting at night?
2. Will these lights be durable?

I'll chime back in with any updates..

I've had the ARB 4x4 9" Intensity for almost a year now and do not regret buying them, even after seeing the clones a few weeks after I bought mine. I have both of them in Flood Pattern and they are ridiculous specially on a dark windy road. Some photos, although I should probably get night ones. :sombrero:
