Exofficio launches adventure travel footwear

Ok, there are three cool things about this:

1. The director of the new shoe division (David) drives an FZJ80 TLC and is an Overland Journal subscriber.

2. Exofficio makes fantastic adventure travel clothing, and new useful shoes to go along with that classic Air Strip shirt you have.

3. I have an early production pair of the Cruz'r, and they are super comfy.

Here is the press release:

ExOfficio Launches New Adventure Travel Footwear Collection
One Pair of Shoes, A Million Adventures

Tukwila, WA: September 17, 2008 – ExOfficio, a leading manufacturer of adventure travel apparel, has launched a new line of footwear designed with its Comfort3 philosophy – offering consumers physical comfort, emotional comfort, and comfort of value. The Spring/Summer ’09 collection made its debut at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City last month.

Keeping the traveler in mind, ExOfficio footwear is built for the spirit of adventure. The shoes are versatile and multi-functional – perfect for seeing sights, walking on a trail, and still look great for a night out on the town. The result: packing less and doing more.

ExOfficio footwear is both travel and eco-friendly. It can be easily slipped on and off to help one quickly pass through airport security. Several styles are made with recycled rubber outsoles, bamboo fabric liners and hemp uppers, which make them easy on the environment.

Priced between $100 and $15o SPR, distribution for the new footwear line is targeted to ExOfficio’s current retail base and select specialty footwear stores.

I am a big fan of Exofficio products. In fact I probably have more Exofficio then any other brand of clothing. It's nice to see them move into footwear, but they will have to work hard to give Keen a run for their money!

Although they have great clothing, I have been extremely disappointed with their support. Emails unreplied to after weeks. Unhelpful call center representatives. An almost "ignore it" approach to warranty. Things I was absolutely not expecting from a company like Exofficio.

I don't want to take this thread too far off track, so I won't go into details here. But this is reminding me to resend the email I sent in December that I never received a reply to...

As a lower limb prosthetic wearer I have to get my leg adjusted if I make a major change in footwear. That is why I have been with New Balance for years. Plus they make wide shoes.
However it is tough to find anything nicer looking in their line without having to order online.
I will take a look at these as I like all the ExO shirts & pants that I have.
Thanks for the heads up

Hey Pete,
Sorry about your dealings with ExOfficio. Feel free to email me dadler@exofficioshoes.com and I'll take care of any issues you have had.

Scott got an early production model. The ExOfficio retail stores in Washington have the shoes as well. Other retailers will be getting shoes in April.

The shoes are made in China.

If anyone is interested in some early production my friends at Expedition Portal will get 25% off MSRP plus free shipping....just email me directly.

cheers,
David...

Hey David that is a great offer...
I am having a new leg built currently so it will fill different and that is the best time to switch shoes :) Not many people can say that.
Is there anyway to look over the collection?
And will you offer wide sizes?
I wear a 12 wide if that helps

its interesting that they are low tops, i say interesting because i have been using low tops for "adventuring" and general use for many years and have gotten a few less than positive comments.

To each his own. Those people who are wearing the high top boots that look like they are capable of summiting K2 are carrying around several extra pounds on each foot.

I do prefer a hiking shoe that covers my ankle. These protect from injury a little better, and they let me cross water that's a little deeper without getting my socks wet.
