New Outlander Sherpa II

Thats a redundant answer.

I am glad you picked up on my sarcasm.

I have Leaf Springs and Shocks. U have leaf springs and coil springs with shcocks(coil overs) on the same axle. Why do you have 2 different type of springs on the same axle.

Honestly the Leaf springs are just regular 1750 lb. 25" Trailer Springs. They are heavy enough for highway trailer use but this is an offroad trailer and are more being used in this scenario for placement of the axle as well as springs. The Coil-overs are being used for the shock absorber value. Before today I would probably say it was overkill and the suspension was too beefy to ride correctly, but after towing it completely empty 5 hours today, I think it is dialed in just right and was only slightly bouncy today making it a dream to tow when I start loading it up.

It was raining in Arkansas when we got there to pick it up :(

Got it home and mounted up the old Roof top tent...

In order to clear the 33" tire, Robert had to build risers onto the mounting bars. This made me need some much longer hardware...

The thing about Outlander is the attention to detail. The Safety Chains come with Caribeaner style clips instead of hooks. He provides you with a 7 pole RV hookup for future brake and power options. He provides you with hitch locks that he has keyed the same so you don't have to carry a ton of keys.

To say the least I couldn't be happier with the way it came out. Stay tuned for more mods, and pics from the trail. She will have her maiden voyage in two weeks.

What is the deck height that the RTT sits on.This was a concern for me when comtemplating a AT as was the hinged lid, but with the rear cargo acess and the solid frame mount for the RTT, I was wondering how high the base is off the ground as it looks similar to that of your FJ which is a good thing for staying away from the scary animals.

I would have to take measurements tonight and get back to you. It is quite a bit shorter than the FJ. I had to drill some holes in the ladder to adjust it and make it shorter.

What were your concerns with the hinged lid?

What were your concerns with the hinged lid?

Nothing structural of course, Just that the lid needed to be raise to access any item in the front of the trailer (that couldn't be accessed from the back). I envision my wife dog and baby asleep in the tent and me sneaking out to try and start breakfast before the hungry mouths awake, then realizing SOB I packed the the kitchen knife and pot in the box that resides at the very front of the trailer just behind the fridge. So instead of having to tilt the entire thing I could crawl through the opening (would work on the AT too as long as the owner wasn't to fat as to not fit through the rear door) and find what I neede w/o disturbing the tent occupants. Though this could also be looked as a safety or security issue as no one can access you gear if your in the tent (on the AT model).

Looks AWESOME! Can't wait to see your pictures from when you take it out for the first time! You're right about the attention to detail, it's those "little" things that make a big difference. Mine should be ready by the end of March and I can hardly wait to get my mitts on it! :D

Cancelled the side box order with Northern, can't justify sticking something that doesn't belong on this Trailer.

Will be picking up a battery Isolator and a couple of Optima Yellow tops to begin my electrical system...
