Just picked up the latest issue (SEPT. 09) of it today and saw the Jk Overland from morpar underground. looks to be a nice rig. I liked the set up.I kinda would like mine to be an Lj the extra storage is nice to have.
Then as I got to the trail rig section on page 98, I saw a jeep rubicon. I told myself that looks like mine, and it was.

This was the picture they used. I was going up the waterfall slab on my way to Bolivia a old mining ghost town in the Stillwater mtn range in Nv.

I can just imagine doing that, kind of slow motion adding 1 + 1 before realizing it was your jeep. Would have been hysterical if you'd been thinking to yourself, "that's a really nice jeep, I should do something like that to mine" before realizing it is your jeep. Great picture. :sombrero:

Very cool.

4 Wheel and Sport Utility is my favorite. I'm so glad Phil Howell is back in charge. When I heard Kevin McNulty was leaving I was bummed because I was afraid the content would change and become a childish mag like Jp or Off-Road are currently.

Nice Jeep and Nice Pic.

Same thoughts on the mag, that's one of the reasons i like it also.
If any of get a chance to run the trail it's fun. Myself and a few others we like going up to Bolivia cut across to the steamshovel trail and out. Then the next time we go the opposite way. There's alot of cool stuff hidden in the Stillwater mtn range.

Now I need to see if I can get my jeep in the jeep freak mag.....

Nice rig, and a good picture of the waterfall there near Bolivia. We drove down it this past Spring during the Nevada Trophy, but our pictures don't make it look as good/steep as yours ☺

Agreed on 4WDSU. Phil Howell is the best 4x4 mag editor. Whichever magazine he is leading, the tone and content is always closest to what I'm looking for in a 4x4 publication. The not sophomoric approach that is prevalent in other publications.

Picture was taken in jan this year. I went down it in april last year with water going down it and on both sides. At the bottom the water was knee high. It was fun at 11:30 at night.:smiley_drive:

Did they redesign the style of the magazine? I haven't bought one for at least a year. Those scans remind me of the 80s offroad magazines my brothers had when I was little.

Edit: Oh wait, it's not the same as 4 Wheel Drive and Offroad. Guess I've never bought this one

Cool that you were in the mag. What a great shot too! Sounds like a mag I'd actually like as I have an SUVan.

I know what its like to be suprised by seeing your own rig. In the early 80's I used to cruise Speedway in Tucson on Friday and Saturday nights in my F-250 w/ 8" lift and 40" Monster Mudders. I got to know these girls pretty well and we'd all hang out on my truck with the stereo going. One night I left my truck with the stereo going and went for a lap in my buddies flamed 55 Chevy. As we turned around I see this sweet F-250 coming the opposite direction. I say out loud, "Wow, thats nice, luv the stance of that one. HEY, thats my truck!" The girls jumped in and took it for a lap. I had to laugh.

I know whats its like to see your rig in a magaizine too. July issue of Petersons 4Wheel & Offroad Bug Out Mobiles article has a half page of my Astro in it. The Earthroamer Jeep has the top half of the page.Pic that I took (name is in photo credits too, he he,) camping. Pop top up, awning out, wife impatiently waiting for me to snap yet another photo before we go hiking.

4wd and Sport Utility was the first 4wd publication I read, in early 1992. Phil is a great editor and solid guy. First class magazine.
