    Lifts!?!

I think he has a 96 Gen II LS. I cranked my torsion bars and added 2inch spring spacers to the rear. Probably the cheapest lift ever and I can fit 35's under it. I will probably keep the tires at 12.5 inches wide or less.

    Montero Information

That sir is a Montero Sport. Not the same as a Montero at all. IMHO the vehicle you are looking at is very overpriced. This is a Generation 2 montero http://www.theautochannel.com/vehicles/new/reviews/montero1.html This is a Generation 3 montero...

I know, 35 inch tires = regear but.....

I have an SR rear diff and an LS front diff. What would be the compatibility with my rig? If I see that I need them to suit my driving style, I may get them. It will be a while from now though.

    Why do you recommend that?

I know, 35 inch tires = regear but.....

I installed a rear axle/ rear end assembly out of a 94 SR in mine. I cannot see how that would make a difference though.

    Optima Battery Problems

I've used the same red top optima battery from 2004 to 2010 in 3 different vehicles ranging from a 2004 GTO to a 2002 Xterra. let it go with the Xterra and to this day, it is still in performing flawlessly. I have had a blue top in my boat since 2006 and I just put a yellow top in my Montero. I...

I know, 35 inch tires = regear but.....

Thanks for the insight! I drive it on the road like I wash my fine china. Once I get it off the road, I treat it like a solo cup... I think I'm going with 35x10.5 for my next set. This width should keep the weight down and lessen the resistance so my 3.0 won't have to struggle too much. I can...

I know, 35 inch tires = regear but.....

Has anyone put 35s on a generation 2 with 4.6 gears and not regeared? If so, what was the outcome? What about 34 inch tires?

Planning a 4x4 trip to do the Cleghorn trail in S. Cal over New Years weekend.

I actually have a set of ProComp mud terrains on my rig right now. They are a very nice tire and do wonderful on rocks and great in mud. They clean out very well and work awesome on the trails. Haven't had them in the snow or sand though. Highway noise isn't too bad so long as you keep them...

    Random Engine Sputter/starting issue

NGK or DENSO? Be sure to use platinum or iridium.. Use nothing but NGK or DENSO.. Trust me!!! Make sure to get an upper intake plenum gasket too. You'll need one. It would also be a good time to switch out the wires. Be sure that when you tighten up the intake that you don't over-tighten the...

    Random Engine Sputter/starting issue

HMMM... I'd say do a load test on the battery. Remember if man built it, it can fail. Check the charging/ starting system. What brand and type of plugs are in it? Also, if the ignition control module got water in it, there could be some corrosion starting to form. That in itself can cause...

    Montero vs Trooper

The unibody means that the entire truck has independent suspension. Better on road manners and some may say that off road they don't fair as well as the body on frame that has front IFS and rear solid axle. I've seen the unibodies hang with the 2nd generations, but I am certain it is easier to...

    DuraTrac vs BFG All Terrains(31x10.5R15)

I have never had the duratracs, but I have had the BFG ATs and they were a wonderful on road tire and performed very well in the snow. On the trail, they do good enough for most of what you will encounter. They are a bit pricey, but they also wore very well and evenly.

More goodies for mu gen II.5!

I am going the 33 10.5 route as well when I need new tires. Or, I was thinking about some interco narrow SS that come in 34 9.5 15. Only thing is that they are bias ply. I remember when I installed my rear locker and I was cursing my tiny little jack that didn't half work. Not a fun job at all...

More goodies for mu gen II.5!

Looks a whole lot better! What size tires are those? I actually decided to have my rear anti-sway bar as to not put too much strain on the control arms during articulation. Figured the air locker would make up for any lack of contact to the ground. Just be sure to keep an eye on them. It looks...
