In the market for a full size diesel truck

I understand fully the benefits of using a manual over an automatic for towing. I just don't like to change clutches at all. I used to be a GMC light/ medium duty truck tech and it wasn't too often a duramax/ allison powered truck had to be repaired unless the customer did something outlandish...

In the market for a full size diesel truck

Yeah, I will more than likely go the duramax/allison combo. Just have to figure out if I should go new or used. Any idea on what year models were best?

In the market for a full size diesel truck

Okay, let me refine my requirements...It needs to be newish and I do not want to mod it or get and old truck so I can put a different engine in it. I have an off-road vehicle that I wrench on. I don't need another one. This one will also pull heavy farm equipment. Doubt I will put a lift on it...

I bought a timing belt water pump set complete with all the seals, gaskets, and pulley from Ebay for 99 dollars. Been on my truck for a year and have worked perfect.

    guide seals or something else

Sounds like a smurf peed in your crankcase. J/K it's more than likely the guides. The oil weight could be too thin too.

In the market for a full size diesel truck

I have a very reliable off-road vehicle that I use for camping, fishing, trails, etc. I need a nice diesel powered full size truck with plenty of power to spare due to the fact that it will be used to tow, haul, pull, and basically do a whole heap of very heavy work. While doing this, I may...

In the market for a full size diesel truck

Yeah, I will probably go with a GMC or Chevy diesel. Since a power wagon doesn't come with a diesel, I won't be getting one of those for sure. Really don't know about getting a ford. When I was a tech, ford kept me in business.

In the market for a full size diesel truck

I may be in the market for a full size diesel pick-up very soon. I really like the Duramax/ allison combination, but I know that dodge offers a power wagon that had a solid front axle that can be had with front and rear lockers. Cummings engines are great as well. Just not sure about their...

    Post your Mitsubishi Pajero Pics

PICS! haha! :coffeedrink: You should probably do a separate thread on the 3000gt engine swap with pics. That way when people do a search they won't get stumped.

Lipstick on a Pig: The 10 Don'ts of Vehicle Modifications

I personally think that the KISS method is the best way to go for anything. To me, whatever is the simplest and least expensive option that is effective will be the best thing to use while in a group. I am aware that a HAM radio is heads and shoulders above a CB radio, but with a CB you will be...

    Montero Questions

It's really up to how much experience you have turning wrenches and if you've actually replaced a timing belt before or not. I wouldn't really recommend starting on a montero. Pricing for parts and labor seem to vary tremendously depending upon where you are. I recommend replacing the water...

I know, 35 inch tires = regear but.....

I think I will be going with a set of 34 10.5 15 on stock rims. With my "lift" and wheel spacers while keeping the stock gearing, these should work great. I am sure it will be something from Interco. Has anyone tried this size yet?

$10k Budget help me find a new rig

I'd go with either a 2nd gen Xterra or a 2nd or even a 3rd gen Montero. Only issue with the 2nd gen Montero is the timing belt. Most people either didn't care to do proper maintenance and they have broken. I understand you issues with the chrysler products since I was a technician for years. I...

    Welding on a vehicle

I've worked at a very reputable shop for years as a service manager/ technician and during that time I had 3 techs that would weld on a daily basis as well as me and we never did one bit of damage to any electronic device on any vehicle ever. We also never disconnected any battery terminal...
