    The J8 thread....

I got fed up and contacted AAV ( Arab American Vehicles ) directly. Maybe they will export from Egypt to the USA.... If I hear anything back I will update with details. I found a post on the JP magazine blog from 2009 that mentioned that they could ship to the USA. After seeing the J8 and...

Biodiesel doesn't like to work in 2007+ USA diesels with particulate filters. I LOVE biodiesel, but its time has come and past for modern diesels as long as the EPA has anything to say abut it. There is some synthetic diesel technology that can work ( Fisher-Tropsch ), but the quantities of...

Turbo Diesel 2.8 CRD in a TJ/LJ solved.....

The Liberty uses most of the bus types.... ECU is Can-c ABS is Can-c Front control module is the Can-c to PCI interface gateway TCM uses an SCI interface I think Body Control Module is PCI I think. Dash cluster is PCI I think. The front control module acts as a gateway module allowing most...

    Is a Rubicon worth it???

Just remember that lockers just get you stuck farther from home :) Don't forget the winch and recovery gear. The belly skid plate on the TJ Rubicons is terrible. The AEV Tummy Tucker is one of the best options for max clearance without a body lift. The install is a little tight however. It...

How would you outfit this custom LJ?

I like the hinges! I have a few ideas for you.... -extend the hinges across the tailgate. If you could tie into the 'bumper' and spare tire mounts that would make the entire assembly much stronger. -Do you have a bushing in your new hinges? A simple bushing with a trust pad on each end would...

I think the 4bt would be about the best diesel....noise and vibration aside. With proper motor mounts its not suppose to be that bad. The 4bt might be able to be reduced in height by changing the intake horn to something like a side draft and eliminating the chrage tube crossover over the top...

Turbo Diesel 2.8 CRD in a TJ/LJ solved.....

Jeep made the T1 with a version of the 2.8 diesel. It longer than the LJ at a 116" wheelbase. Mopar Skunkworks used one of these jeeps for the 'crate engine' concept a few years back at EJS..... Article here...

Its going to be interesting to see how long it will take to transition the world to USLD? 5-10-20 years for a total fleet replacement. For the most part I don't have a problem with ULSD. Most of the older engines are compatible enough with it. I do think not being able to use bio-diesel is...

Turbo Diesel 2.8 CRD in a TJ/LJ solved.....

This post deserves an icy cool beverage. I was actually researching the D44 tone rings today. I must have missed this post when I was posting my last one. The ability to either add a D44 tone ring or use the t-case output driven sensor can solve the speed problem IF the body control module can...

The 2011 Jeep LACK OF DIESEL thread....

There are some EPA factors that deal with how many vehicles and of what kind a company can produce for diesel emissions. VW meets current diesel emissions without fluid after-treatment. I don't know if this is because it is a lighter vehicle and falls on a different table for emissions, or...

The inability to run bio-diesel is about the last straw. The inability to use international grade fuel is also just not acceptable. The requirement to use an after-treatment fluid is WAY out of line. Most people would agree that Euro V or Euro III-IV emissions would have been more than enough...

Euro V does not meet current USA diesel emissions. It comes close, and even falls on the Tier 2 table I think, but it doesn't come close enough. The impression I got for Jeep, AEV, and others is that in order to get the diesel in the USA your going to have to have a particulate filter AND an...

I got the 'we are working on it' response at EJS this year. I heard Euro VI and the USA emissions will match close enough to make it work. The new Euro V wrangler is fantastic. It should have been offered in the USA. While jeep is having a hard time introducing the diesel in the USA, it's just...

Official ExPo Easter Jeep Safari Thread!

The response I got from the jeep booth was.....'we are working on it' From other sources the roll out of the Euro VI engine and the USA diesel may happen at the same time IF fuel prices get to about $4.50 for gasoline. Just what I heard. The Euro V diesel is amazing and the start stop is a...

    XJ Diesel swap options?

yeah, sadly nothing in the USA is that easy.....unless you start with an older diesel Cherokee :) If you can spend the money, I think one of the best swaps would be the 4.07 MWM diesel from south america. They are passenger side turbo so the exhaust runs down the bare side of the undercarriage...

Turbo Diesel 2.8 CRD in a TJ/LJ solved.....

AEV used one of there gateway modules to make the swap happen. It also required some custom code for the module (speed signal) The white RHD LJ also used a T1 military gauge cluster which you can't get. Dave has been pretty forthcoming with info on the AEV board. And yes, the swap was a...
