Official ExPo Easter Jeep Safari Thread!

I'm headed over tomorrow after work. I will be hounding the AEV guys for diesel stuff. Dave has some 'splaining to do! I will also be harassing everyone I can find at the Jeep booth about USA diesel options. I might take my cell phone pocket recorder :)

If your fan is THAT close to the radiator...mmmmm. Can you move the radiator forward? While electric fans look like a good clearance option, I have never seen them last that long, unless they are OEM electric fans with proper gauge wiring, HD OEM relays, and OEM temp control. All the aftermarket...

Did you use the factory 1st gen fan and clutch? There is a replacement HD clutch and beefy fan with larger blades and more twist. I don't think electric fans are the way to go. Do you have a shroud on the fan? What radiator?

1993 Dodge Ram Cummins W250 - should I buy this?

The regular cab isn't bad.... -You could install a shell with a boot and no rear window in the cab. Then install a gear basket in the front of the bed. I had a friend when I was younger that ran a little toyota truck like this. It was AMAZING the difference it made in 'space'. -Install some...

You can always change the exhaust housing, but that is probably going to make even more boost and add a little more fuel. I'm going the HE351 route, that gives me a 9cm wastegated exhaust housing and a 60mm compressor wheel. Another idea, install a 'valet' switch on the air line going to the...

    1991 Cummins Suburban

M&H sells a spacer that give you a little more retraction on the fuel pin, or you can mill the cover a bit to give you a little less fuel. If your making that much boost your probably pushing the fuel pin down allowing more fuel. The factory truck makes about 15psi max so I would suspect that...

Opinions on choice between a Toyota Tundra doublecab or Tundra regular cab (5.7)

I'm a big fan of the regular cab 8' bed truck.... Its big enough without being too big. Its pretty easy to turn around, if you don't mind a scratch and ding it goes off-road very well. The bed is long enough to sleep in WITH gear without too many issues. Its a bit smaller to park around town...

Camper Shells: your experiences and suggestions

I have been running my cap-high used snugtop on the dodge for a few year now. At 1st I built a simple sleeping platform in the back and plopped an air bed on top. This was comfy, but it took up WAY too much room. You just couldn't easily get to anything under the platform. The headroom was...

Shoot, my truck is still under 8K. Even with the big tires and camper shell its about 7000-7500 or so. Not that 7K is THAT light, but its all relative. I think the weight when the truck was new at the DMV ( stupid Colorado ) was listed at 6500lbs.

    Dodge Ram 2500

The Duratrac is a really good tire. If they made larger sizes I would run them.

Slow down till boost is at or under 3psi. Depending on the turbo and fuel settings this might be like 50 or less. Mileage should go WAY up. Its fun to find the sweet spot and get like 25+ mpg, even if its just for a bit.... You might also try backing off the screw on the top of the AFC that...

1993 Dodge Ram Cummins W250 - should I buy this?

I would buy it at that price just for the parts....rust to not. The A/C swap will be challenging, but not impossible. You will probably have to find a complete truck to strip. The most challenging part is probably going to be the a/c compressor bracket on the engine. You can strip most of the...

What was your speed? Tire pressure? RPM? Boost? When I drop my truck down to about 60mph the mileage goes WAY up.

    Dodge Ram 2500

I would..... -Replace the rear u-joints -Check the rear pinion seal ( seems common to wear ) -synthetic in both diffs since they always turn -automatic fluid change with the biggest deepest pan you can find w/drain plug -Engine oil change Skip the H2 wheels, the stock wheels have proper...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

I'll get a picture of the new(er) turbo and the old turbo when I do the install. I'm pretty surprised how well this truck has held up overall. Its got 300K on it o so. Rust is minimal in the southwest, but I think you end up doing all the rubber and paint more since the sun bakes everything...

    Project: Doitall Dodge

We all can't live in areas where you can paint outside all year no matter what day because it never rails or changes temperature.... :) AND I had to try and cover up all my fender cutting with some filler! :) I'm really close. I all I have left is the doors and cowl. I ordered up a small...

This showed up in the mail today.... Time for a little high altitude performance! Do do list for this project.... -buy a 4" Diamond Eye exhaust system -Make a HE351 sized exhaust flange and weld it to the new 4" downpipe -Make a new pipe to go from the compressor outlet to intercooler -Buy...

Official ExPo Easter Jeep Safari Thread!

I hear AEV has a diesel 2-door JK running around..... ( buy a CRD in Germany, ship the parts you need to convert a USA spec JK) I can only wish I could pull this off. The 3-door J8 would probably be a 'better' replacement for the Dodge though :) I will be over on Thursday evening thru...

    New to site...early bronco driver!

I've come close to building an EB for a good friend of mine. Here is the concept I worked up.... The body was going to be highly modified. The fenders stretched and raised, vertically sectioned, body dropped on the frame, chopped half cab, etc. The wheelbase was going to be about 100". Mix...
