You just described me. And probably every other half ton owner who tows a travel trailer.
I think there is serious benefit to the electric drive while towing but the issue has always been range. Ideally, battery tech would improve that but I just dont see that happening anytime in the next 10...
I posted in this section about the Rivian quad motor with the offroad package struggling on some stuff that a $38000 Colorado Trailboss walked through pretty casually. I think it was probably because the motors overheated. It got into a situation where it was crossed up and the two tires on the...
Exactly. You can have a turbo 6 cylinder with its set of problems or a V8 with cylinder deactivation with an entirely different set of problems. It doesnt really seem to matter. Although I will say that ford seems to have ironed out most of the kinks in the Ecoboosts but I think the rest of the...
I had 37" G003's on my 4Runner and they were impressive for such an aggressive MT. I swear they were no louder and handled about as well as my KO2's.
They handled snow well too when air'd down to 5 psi :ROFLMAO:
Agree'd. For towing, the only V8 that is even close to the Ecoboost or iforce is a 7.3L Godzilla, and even thats not quite there.
They only need the gas engine to provide enough power for the average of the tow. You might need 250-300 hp to climb a mountain but then you are regening on the way...
Ultraterrains have been out for 2-3 years I think. I've only heard good things about them and was really considering them until I found a guy selling cheap raptor takeoffs 5 minutes from my house.
I have not personally run wildpeaks but I did have 4 sets of Duratracs and they were great in the snow. I ended up switching to KO2 takeoffs I got from a Wrangler Rubicon and Raptor for cheap and that was a serious step down in snow performance.
Just because a tire has the 3PMS symbol doesnt...
Last time I had the Ford dealer do something to my F150 it was the brake master cylinder recall. I picked it up and the CEL was on because they didnt reconnect 3 sensors. A week later my motor sent a rod through the block with minimal warning.
I have no evidence that it was them, but I find it...
If I'm pulling long distances I don’t want the engine unnecessarily spinning higher than it needs to. I pull my trailer with my GX460 and it spends almost all of its time in 4th spinning 2800+ rpm and its just not as pleasant as towing the same trailer with my F150 Ecoboost at 1900 rpm...
Yup. This is why I have not considered an EV truck at all. I am in Utah and some of the places I pull my trailer are too far for even my GX460 with a 23.5 gallon tank. I towed with it back from Moab yesterday and made it about 170 miles and had a little under a quarter of a tank. But there are...
I have a GX460 and an F150(not a tundra but close enough) and they each have their pro's and con's. I have two kids and two dogs but at one point owned both cars with one kid and two dogs.
I am having a serious debate myself as to which one I want to keep. I just bought a Chevy Bolt as a daily...
If you are towing then the TTV6 is definitely the way to over the 2.4L Hybrid. While the 2.4L probably pulls well, the hybrid isnt capable of supplying sustained torque for long duration on the highway. If you got into a stout headwind or something where you need continuous high horsepower...
I would be wheeling mostly in Utah. Sometimes Moab or other places in southern UT, but also some of the local forest service roads in northern UT mountains or in the surrounding states. These are tighter but not impossibly tight and have had my F150 on them.
I have wheeled my 2014 Supercrew...
Ive seen a lot of people say the Rivian is a beast offroad on some of the Toyota/Lexus groups im on, and I imagined it might be with all the suspension and driveline wizardry, but this video kinda has me wondering. Is this normal? It seemed like it was really struggling whereas the $39000...
I have been eyeing the 2018-2020's closely and wondering about peoples impression of them on the trail. I know they are heinously wide but does the short wheelbase allow them to be nimble enough to navigate tighter sections? I like that the truck is already on 35's, has a locker and a torsen and...
