Determining safe tire load rating required

My F150 has an empty(and I mean literally nothing in it except gas) weight of 6200 lbs. I run a topper full time which is probably another 200 lbs. So before I even put any gear or people in the truck im already at almost 6500 lbs. Offroading with the family im over 7000 lbs. When I hook up my...

Me too on the F150. And yes, 149”. It has the same turning radius as a 145” F150 too. I think the cabs a little smaller and the bed is a little smaller at 6’-4”. I always thought the Ford supercrew was a little excessive so im intrigued by the ram.

2nd Gen Sequoia as offroad rig and tow platform

The F150 is solid offroad. Im on just Bilstein 5100’s at the 2nd from bottom ring, the 315/70 raptor takeoffs and the factory elocker and its great. I pull one sway bar end link off for the weekend and it just floats. But man, its huge. I got into some OHV trails outside of Kanab UT the other...

2nd Gen Sequoia as offroad rig and tow platform

I currently have a 2011 Lexus GX460 and a 2014 F150 Supercrew 6.5' bed and am not particularly happy with either because my goal is to be able to tow a trailer, and then offroad at my destination. -The GX can offroad decently well, but the towing capabilities leave a lot to be desired due to...

I do like that the Ram crew cab is 149" wheelbase vs 160" for the Superduty.

    Ford Fullsize Thread !!!!

I have a Jayfeather X213 and live in Utah. 90% of my camping is BLM or national forest boondock sites. The thing is a low rider on fairly small Carlisle Trail HD's but it will get into some gnarly spots. If you get a trailer with some decent ground clearance, I really dont think it would be a...

Who's building the best 3/4 Ton/ 1 Ton Gas Truck these days!

All I know is my MIL had a 7.3L Godzilla in here E450 Class C motorhome. Its detuned compared to the Superduty and had the 6R140 trans, but man that thing was stout. It moved 14000 lbs of brick across I-80 at 7000' extremely well.

    Ford’s new 6.8L V8

On MSRP sure. That wasnt what I meant. I mean if you actually walk into a dealer I think there is more wiggle room with a GM or Ram right now.

    Ford’s new 6.8L V8

I am aware, but GM and Ram are doing a better job filling their lots and increasing supply and are already offering incentives. GM absolutely smoked Ford this year on full size truck sales. You want a deal on a truck, a Ford lot is the last place to look.

    Ford’s new 6.8L V8

Unless Ford just doesnt produce trucks at the rate they used to(supply/demand), someone is going to get screwed trying to ask these prices. Probably the dealers.

Frame Strength, Who to Believe! The RV Sales Guy or the New Truck Dealer? Maybe Neither?

All I am going to say is that I am just astonished that someone can have enough money to buy this dudes setup and have no clue what they are doing. If I was buying a ~$100k Ram 3500 I would know exactly what I was getting. Not some BS marketing payload capacity. And just based on my time spent...

    Ford’s new 6.8L V8

Ford is still really struggling to make trucks, or if you are a conspiracy theorist, they are continuing to produce trucks slowly to keep prices high. Their 2022 sales were heavily down for FS trucks(-10%), SUV's(-25%), and mid-sized trucks(-40%) from 2021 even. I dont think we will see...

Can someone smarter than me please explain…

i edited my post while you reponded. But to your point, if everyone if drivng 30 miles a day or less(which is fairly true for me) then stop putting 137 kwh batteries in these EV trucks and use the saved weight for a range extender and gas tank. The batteries have poor energy density and add a...

Can someone smarter than me please explain…

I disagree. The beauty of a range extender is that you could cut the battery size in half and still have a very functional range. So say we cut the Rivians 137 kwh battery in half to a 70 kwh battery. Its half the size and weight. 70 kwh is only equivalent to like 2 gallons of gasoline. To...

Show us your Toyota 4runner, tacoma or truck.

awesome. I've got a 1995 2nd gen that was SAS'd by the guy I bought it from and its like a mile tall. I am in the process of trying to drop it down, but Trailgears high steer kit sucks and the drag link and tie rod hit.

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

I would imagine that is true. TBH, I would way rather have a Truetrac or other helical LSD than the e-locker. I have the locker in my current F150 and its just not all that useful in 99% of the situations you would be in. The Truetracs in my Jeep Liberty were so awesome. An F150 with the Torsen...

    Towing a 16ft Airstream with a 4runner? Other alternatives?

I have an F150 and a GX460 and used both to tow my 5500 lbs gvwr jayco jayfeather x213 The GX handles the trailer fine, but the major issues, especially towing out west, are power and fuel capacity. Even with the extra power of the 1UR V8 over the 4.0 in the 4Runner, and the shorter axle ratio...
