It's funny you mentioned the smell. I put a set of Toyo's on my 5500 Dodge and didn't know what that smell was, almost like a sewer, hope it goes away soon.
I've just read through all of the posts and sorry, but I have to say, It's not the size that counts, but how you use it!
We're fixing up an old FJ55 to explore the country, nothing fancy.
Man, that could be a problem, if in the wrong place and you needed to drop it. That's why I wound up buying a few A2's and A3's. The A2's had the new landing gear, but didn't have the enlarged bed, between the wheel wells. So, finally I got a A3 with everything I need, four trailers later
Don't mean to hijack, but I really like that fj45 trailer bed. I've seen guys use them on different full size trucks also. Good job! Hijack over, thanks
Pikeman is right. I have both 105's and 101's and the measurements given are for a 105. It does look like a axle or at least a wheel swap. 105's are way to heavy for a smaller truck to handle
Good job so far. What type of front landing gear do you have. Some A2's have the newer crank up type. Trying to lift your trailer off the hitch, when loaded, is too hard. We need some pictures!
Well, I vote for Alum. I've had two Alum. dump beds for 16 years combined. No rust, lighter than steel and you can repair it yourself fairly easy. I haul firewood, rock and everything else on a farm, with no problems. The key is using an extruded (spelling?) floor instead of just diamond plate...
I also have a 5500, 2010 with a Alum-line bed. I've used their beds for 16 years now. They do have a good product. Mine has a dump under it. I'll be waiting for pictures and an update. You'll find out the truck is great, very heavyduty. Good luck on the build.
That generator trailer is a very good base to build something on. "heavyduty" It's the same frame as the M101 that everybody has been using. Rated at 3/4 ton, but can handle way more than that. Good start and keep working at it.
Doing good, nothing wrong with your skills. Thoughts, I wouldn't have the doors lift off the hinges, theft prevention. Also I would add more support to the top, cross bars. Keep up the good work.
Looks like you got some good help there. You'll make some great memories for the kids with this kind of project. My kids still talk about the camping and four wheeling trips we did and that was 30 years ago! Doing good
Looking at your trailer, you got a good one!. You have the new composite rails, very nice. Go to this site. jatonkam35s.com and download the TM manuels for your 101. They have everything in them, you will ever need. By the way, why not leave it tan, looks good.
