    2004 8.1 Yukon

I have the 8.1 as well. Youre truck doesnt have the 4l80e it has the 4l85e with the 5 planetaries they started using it in late 02 You will not destroy that trans. Its rated for 16,000lb vehicles. Increasing spring rate by cranking the keys is a myth. The spring rate doesnt change, all it does...

    1999 Chevy Suburban K2500

What trans did you put behind it? I have a gmt400 ccsb 2500 with the 4l80e that Im getting ready to redo. I have a '92 Cummins 12v turbo with the 5speed (nv3500/4500 not sure)and I just picked up a 8.1ltr, one of those is going into the truck but I want to stick with an auto. The stock 4l80 will...

Zip-tie snow chains, has anyone seen or used them ROFL!

I could see them getting a small car out of snow pack in a parking lot at really low speed. Of course if you run decent snow tires on a 2wd you probably have just as good a chance. These are mostly going to be found in walmart ("As seen onTV aisle")for their shoppers vehicles that have ************...

    2016-2017 F150 4x4 EcoBoost - Real world experiences??

Regardless the fact remains most of our trucks have had turbo issues after 50k. Plus oil consumption issuesin as little as 10k miles.

    2016-2017 F150 4x4 EcoBoost - Real world experiences??

First this is just my opinion and experience if yours varies so be it. We have close to a 100 of the ecoboost 150s in our fleet. The older batch are 2013-14s which make up the majority. 2015-19 make up about 20%. The newer ones are put together a little nicer but dont have the miles to really...

    Old Junk vs. New Junk?

The problem with that is many dealers are creating these pigs before they ever leave the lot. A friend went through hell getting warranty work on a truck he bought new. They were saying the aftermarket lift and wheel size negated the warranty. The issue was the dealer installed the the lift and...

    1986 GMC S-15

He very well may have had lymes. Its a very complicated disease with a lot of different symptons. I think theres still a lot of issues with it they dont understand. I was curious to know if you knew for sure what he had. I know its easier to cure the sooner its caught and you have less...

    1986 GMC S-15

Andrew, sorry to hear about the wife. Hopefully they get her on antibiotics and knock it down for good. I was on antibiotics for two months when I had it in 2002. I saw the tick latched on and then the red circle a few days later so they got it early. Ive been tested since and it comes up...

    Opinions on Suburban 2001 rig?

The asking price is $4200 because of the issues. You can find 6.0ltr 2500 gmt800s with 130-200k miles are everywhere for $4500-7000 in good shape. Generally an 8.1 Burb with those miles is going to be around $7000 or more. Low mile around 100k sell for over $10,000. Id try offering $3000 you...

    Opinions on Suburban 2001 rig?

Its better to run the carfax but I wouldnt sweat the miles being low. When I was looking for mine most of the 2500s were lower milage even more so with the 8.1s. Most people that buy them use them to tow the camper and other toys rather than as a daily driver so they dont tend to rack up the miles.

    Opinions on Suburban 2001 rig?

The price isnt bad for an 8.1 that may need some repairs but it does look like it was used hard.

    Opinions on Suburban 2001 rig?

It depends on the type of racing he was doing. It may or may not have been abused. We raced formula V and autocross when I was teen and our trailer was under 6k lbs and it was very much a weekend hobby. We pulled it with an old ford econoline 150. I remember one trip to Nelson Ledges we pulled...

    Last 2500 Suburban

Do you not understand what a differential is? A 37" tire will give you 1" more ground clearance under the diff than a 35" tire. None of your other changes have affected your rear diff height. The only other thing youve done to raise your front diff is your torsion key swap.

    Opinions on Suburban 2001 rig?

As mentioned above the gmt800s 2500s are very reliable. They do have some of the same issues as 1500 trucks with interior parts like stepper motors, window regulators, or switches but even these arent common. The one issue with the 8.1 is oil consumption. Its not terrible but you do need to...

    Opinions on Suburban 2001 rig?

Its a little stiffer than a 1500 truck but they arent bad. My wife actually prefers taking it over my bmw when we go somewhere like San Antonio or Austin which is about 4 hours. Offroad is a little rougher unloaded but they are much more stable when loaded with camping gear. You dont get the...

Vintageracer that is very nice! I love the stance and the mini flares. Those are cool. What did you do to level out the suspension? Im guessing just keys in the front. What keys did you go with and what size tires are on it? I havent got around to mine yet. The back end is still a good bit...
