Lite weight campers & RVs. Consumers/customers need to push manufacturers....

An Oliver TC would be an interesting rig now wouldn't it. Especially if they could come in under the ( rather inflated ) price of say a Big Foot or Northern light. Both ( deservedly ) standards of the industry. But heavy and verrrrrry expensive.

The VMI Canyon is a neat unit . Well built by any standard. It is however a pop top. And basically a large tear drop style tent trailer. 1900 lbs dry ( Light for a hard side trailer ) and $25,000 .... . Not really a fair comparison. The Compass is closer ( at least in fit out ) as it...

Part time living in a camper?

I love this discussion. When I was young and adventurous I lived in my custom van in Sandiego. I moved from beach to beach nightly . Did this for over a year . Don't know if this would be possible today . It is a pretty heavily regulated aria now. Sure had a lot of fun though. At the time...

I got it. Sorry if I seemed a bit on edge. I had just left the dentist office...... I'm presently going through the prep for lower dentures. Had 2 ( More ) teeth pulled yesterday. I hate getting old........ Now that I think about it , maybe that is why I have such an aversion to clinical RV...

A simplified example for the mind to ponder .I apologize for trying to make things a bit simpler for someone who just doesn't seem get the idea. The dew point isn't and never was the issue here. The fact that the rv does or does not have a condensation issue is... IE : cold night warm camper...

Managed to get a bit done over the past few days . Finished re finishing the appliances ( copper and black Hammerite) the wife's idea. Installed the new water tank, plumbed the LPG locker and finished all of the wiring. Then sealed the outside of the panels and frame...

OCD Overland Please stop invoking science until you understand it. Re read my post . I am not nor have I ever bashed fiberglass construction . in fact I sed it may hold all of the answers to rv problems when used in mass production , IF DONE RIGHT. As for mold acquiring nutrients from...

You make a compelling argument . However . Science and experience dictates that you are sadly wrong.( no offence ) Manufacturers make very interesting claims . All designed to sell there products. In order for the the moisture in the cab air to migrate through the fiberglass walls of the...

Got the last of the interior panels and doors built and installed today .... The water tank, blue flame heater and tankless water heater should arrive next week . Once they arrive and are installed I'll be able to finish up the plumbing. Until then I will be sanding and trimming out the...

Can't find what I want so the build begins.

Well, the battery bay is now ready for final fit out as well . I have just enough room for 2 gel cell battery's. I then finalized the removable rear panel that encloses the right rear corner of the cabin. This panel has to be removable in the event that I ever have to remove the fridge for...

I agree with you that there are varying tastes when it comes to what the optimum interior is. Clinical just isn't my thing. Unfortunately all glass units condense water at the same rate . Insulation has nothing to do with the problem. This is caused by the smooth glassy non absorbent gel coat...

Am Oliver removed from it's frame and installed on a flat bed. Not a bad Idea , unless you have a phobia of dentist offices. The new Oliver 18' •Self-Igniting LP Furnace with Central Heating ( Burns a tone of DC ) •Coleman Mach 8 Polar Cub (9,200 BTU) A/C Unit & Wall Mount Thermostat ( see...

I think the real root of the problem is everyone's desire for high tech gadgets rather than plain old common sense. Most newly constructed campers have all of the warmth and comfort of an operating room. White shiny plastic sterile boxes. For me this is not what " camping " brings to mind. A...

Well, the wiring is about 80% completed. Once all of the runs that cross over through the rafters was completed I decided that it was time to add a ceiling. At this point all I can claim is that I am really good at building boxes......Lots of boxes........ I added provisions for a solar...

Can't find what I want so the build begins.

Getting ready to install the ceiling in the cabin. Thought it would be a good time to add some light. The distribution panel and charging system came from an old Conestoga 12 footer that we wrecked out. I like it because it is so old that it has no printed circuit panels to fail . It is a...
