Yes, I was averaging that with stock tires on my tundra.
If I remember correctly, I think the mpg on my 2008 4runner went up a smidge when I went from the OEM Bridgestones to the Hankooks as well.
Sorry, should’ve clarified. I only ran the Hankooks on my 2008 4runner, not my Tundra. On my Tundra, I went from the OEM Michelin ATs to the Nittos and yes, there was about a 3 mpg loss going to the bigger, heavier Nittos.
I‘m running 295/70/18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I have about 40k miles on them and I’d say they’re about 50% worn. They’re quiet and smooth, very easy to balance with very little weight. I also run them on our 2014 4runner, which has been all over the country-both on pavement and dirt, and they’ve...
I’ve owned several toyotas over the years and currently own a 2017 Tundra and a couple 4runners. We pull our 30’ grand design trailer and my dad’s fishing boat with the tundra and it does good. The only issue with mine was the stereo went out. Not a huge deal since I usually upgrade the sound...
No there’s still a bunch of companies that offer transfer tanks that are rated and legal for use with gasoline. Transfer-Flow, RDS, AttaTank just to name a few.
I would just do an in-bed tank with a transfer pump. Not even sure I’d plumb it into the factory filler. It could be used to re-fuel other equipment and trucks but it would also prevent the manufacturer from denying a fuel system related warranty claim. Once you crack open the OEM fuel system...
Did someone say v8 tacoma with a manual transmission? Sign me up!! Even with a good auto, the taco with a v8 would be pretty fun! Curious how the current manual trans v6 with a supercharger drives, since that’s probably the closest to a v8 taco as I could get.
I do agree that the smaller and...
I would say that’s a good price. Your truck is clean and tastefully modified. Those are usually pretty good trucks, just about everything on them is simple, and probably more reliable than the newer models. I had plans to lift my 2004 Z71 just like you did but I ended up sell it to a friend. I...
The stock 4.30 gears work good with the stock tire size. The problem is the transmission is sort of high geared and wide ratio at that. 6th gear is a 0.58 overdrive! My tundra is on 295/70/18 tires and I’m really considering going with 5.29 gears to get the power band back, maybe even a little...
35’s and lockers should definitely help. These tundras are long with a kind of low departure angle. We do take our tundra off-road but nothing hardcore. It usually pulls the camp trailer or boat and we use one of the 4runners for trail duty. That being said, so far the tundra has worked well for...
I agree with @Over The Silent Planet with Methods and 35/12.50 tire, you’ll most likely need a cab mount chop to get them to clear. With a wheel that has a lot of positive offset like the factory wheels, you can run a skinny 35 pretty easily. I’m on the factory Pro suspension (2” lift) and...
Definitely sounds like a Rubicon jeep is what you’re looking for. An FJ wouldn’t be bad either but unless a previous owner modified it, you’ll need some additional hardware to make it really trail worthy (which can definitely be fun if you enjoy modifying stuff). I prefer the 2006-2009 FJ’s...
I normally don’t like green on a vehicle but I don’t mind that guard color. I also like that I rarely see that color around. I really like Space White though! Kind of like a light grey in certain light/angles. Really wish Space White was available on the SD line.
Same here. Explorers are just station wagons now (CUV is the PC term I guess). They’re fine for staying on pavement but way too long and low for off-road use. I thought Ford was crazy not bringing that Ranger based Everest here but they might redeem themselves with the Bronco.
Of course, GM is...
I never had issues with the 5100’s on my 4runner set on the third notch. Ran them for roughly 70k miles before I decided to upgrade to the 6100’s. Quite a few off-road miles on the 5100’s and never had an issue with them other than they seemed to fade a little on really rough, fast fire roads...
Same here in NM. The ford dealers have plenty of disposable little cars both new and used, several f150’s with the usual copy and paste typical dealership stock order trucks, no supercrew 6.5’ beds or anything really interesting, maybe one or two superduty trucks like the f150’s. The dodge and...
A rutted dirt road took care of the air dam on my F150. On that truck, the air dam helps direct the air that enters the bumper through the intercooler and radiator so I purchased a like new used air dam and trimmed it so it wouldn’t hang down so low. I never scraped or broke it again.
Big brother is watching!
Yeah, I get it, we should never overload our trucks or tow more than they‘re rated for or drive above the posted speed limits.
I do see this tech as a very useful tool but I can just imagine Ford trying to wiggle out of warranty coverage based on what I’m supposedly...
