NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Lav- We shall see on the gorilla's, I have hope that they'll be the D3 equivalent of the RRC solid lugs; while those do knick and get off colored they are far superior on the RRC/D1/Defender setups if you end up taking your wheels on/off for stuff (as you well know). In terms of colors, while I...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Odds & ends update Major changes coming soon with the truck's configurations but as is typical in the Middle East shipping delays and all manner of other life complications get in the way-but in the meantime I did get a couple of things worth posting sorted. First and foremost the OBA has...

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

I store mine up there all the time! I think there is something magnetic about a Disco roof rack for kids.

Traxide dual battery kit on LR4

Only way is to order from AUS, but that shouldn't slow you down-Tim, the person I was turned toward by a fellow forum member, is extremely responsive and communicative both before and after sale-furthermore shipping doesn't take that long, and the USD is strong against the Australian dollar...

The DiscoDavis Discovery 3 Build Thread

I've struggled with the size issue in my thread; I've found that you can post up to 10 pics per reply and that if each picture starts at 1-1.5mb or so in size you are good to go. An alternative might be to use photobucket or something and bring them over. What I've never figured out is if I...

    Living in a Land Rover

I will be intrigued to hear if there are any freelander owners out there, not because I think it's a realistic option-just b/c they are rare birds in the US (owners, plenty of broken Freelanders abound). So you don't need older folks telling you this is all madness, in fact I think you should...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

The one's out here are great, tons of camping stuff and even some ok offroad items (Bushranger line, i.e. you can get an exhaust jack in the hardware store). Total aside-with your color truck, def do the black wheels if you do plastidip or paint them-would look awesome.

Disco3/LR3 owners with cubby (No NAV) - What is under your driver seat?

All I know is I don't play under the seats all that much after I put on my seat covers and managed to tweak one of the airbag senors or some wiring associated (red airbag light came on, wouldn't go off, had module replaced by my indy mechanic out here) That and on my D1 the compressor is under...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Al Ain isn't that far away. Lav, yes Ace is here and to be honest it is what I wish Ace was in the us.

Dark Gray Wheels; aka fun with plastidip With the wife's tacit approval to make the wheels dark it was time to exploit opportunity and I'd wanted to try plastidip on the wheels anyway so with the weather still nice here I set out to make my Tonga Green beauty have some darker shoes. In true...

Land Rover Discovery Roof Rack (SD to Baja?)

Quite true. I bought a truck just to get one. Literally. (It was a basket case XD, and the cost was barely more than I'd pay for the rack alone so it was worth it after parting out the wheels and other bits). They are out there, believe one was on Dweb not too long ago. IMHO nothing else...

Land Rover Discovery Roof Rack (SD to Baja?)

You may want to keep an eye out for the low SD rack, sits a lot closer and maintains the looks & relative elegance of the SD rack.

    Land Rover LR3 RR

So I'll chime in, I honestly had/have no idea what a RR is in context, so that makes it difficult to address the question. Then the idea of driving to Central/South America in and of itself has some challenges that would be a better research opportunity elsewhere in the forum but I'm sure...

    LR3 Coil spring conversion kit

Your info was invaluable to my choice to go with AB. I have thought about strut spacers too-there are also a few different OEM spacers that seem like the coil LR3 version of trim packers from previous generations, up to 13mm, for a whopping $7.00 a piece. I have some back in the US I need to...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Definitely a very harsh environment, to think that even in the 60's it was quite primitive is amazing-much less to fathom how people scratched out a living hundreds of years ago.

LR3 / LR4 buying guide and maintenance tips

George- Keep in mind the internet is biased toward issues; nobody posts up 'nothing's wrong with my truck, it just works' on the scale that folks post up issues to get sorted. The good news about the LR3/LR4 platform is that it is significantly more reliable and robust than previous generations...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Khasab (Musandam) Oman & a the great transit of the UAE Pt2 The next day we got up and moving knowing we had a longer drive ahead of us. 305mi isn't all that far, especially on the excellent highways in the UAE and Oman but the little towns and detours kill time both because you start...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Khasab (Musandam) Oman & a the great transit of the UAE Pt1 Finally dug through some pics and have them in some semblance of order enough to post up a more complete story from last weekend. As my wife prepares to go out on more field work for her PhD we decided to knock a UAE bucket list...
