Fall Break Part II
This pic, actually before O got on top of the truck, doesn't do the turning of the leaves in conjunction with the clouds rolling across the lush WVA terrain justice.
O wrapping her mind around Twin Mountain's trail rating system.
Quick camp setup, looming clouds did not...
Fall Break Part 1
Took a long weekend of Eid to come back to spend some time with the kiddos, with them in school during the day on Thurs & Fri it allowed me some time to catch up on CONUS rover issues, to include addressing the things that I left in disrepair on Coyote as I went back to AD in...
Damn Don...that's impressive. Credit where its due, you are using the truck as intended but as you noted, I'm glad I have the D1 for trail abuse!

Thank you. Sadly just a long weekend, but quality time with the kids is worth the flight. About 9 more months till I'm back 'for good' whatever that means!

It's good to be home for a minute, enjoying the D1 as the leaves just start to turn in WVa. Roof rack being used as intended.

Very good question/comments; I went with the 6k vice their 8k in an effort to have them be white not too blue. This comparison from their website seems pretty close to my experience with the 6k bulbs:
Initial impression is positive but that is also based off them not really kicking out an...
Interior LEDs
Having installed LEDs into my D1's interior dome lights to very good effect in my other build, I'd wanted to do the same thing in the LR3 mostly for the power savings associated with it while out camping with doors open/lights on with the vehicle isn't running. That said the...
LED hazard/indicator fun
Many thanks to all chiming in on the thread, appreciate everyone's comments here, via pm, email and in some of the other threads. ExpO is definitely a huge resource for making this truck progress.
A couple more updates to round out as other things are in motion...
It is very difficult to argue with the idea of installing the OE door panels and thus needing some PDWs to fit into the space. Clearly that is as MB intended.

Atlantic carries the POF (Pakistani Ordnance Factory) MP5 copies too, though the name may give pause from what I've heard they are decent. Vector reportedly is decent too, compared the the Atlantic linked AA you posted.
I've toyed with the idea of an MP5 for a long, long time-esp after we had...
I enjoyed a Guinness at the Safari Bar! Sadly JBB's was closed the night we had a chance to eat, and its still a bit warm for the rooftop steakhouse but that's ok-we will be back since we've got family teaching over in Muscat right now. I may have to check that campsite out!
The weather...
Pulled from a for sale thread on the UAE Land Rover owner's facebook page...clearly RR's can get modified. Like all things it is a matter of budget and desire, not necessarily in that order.
De-tango'd headlights and an eBay side vent
Catching up on some mods that were done before Oman but never captured here. Using the summer to mull projects large and small resulted in some minor aesthetic alterations being on the list of projects. Like the black badging none were critical to...
I will likely end up ordering the USI-160 version based off the feedback. For me an important factor is that it comes with a lot of odds and ends that I'd otherwise have to source out here which can be an adventure. Many things are easier/cheaper to find, fix, or fabricate here but often...
Oman cont'd; wrap up
Figured I'd finish up the Oman trip with a few more shots, mostly from Muscat or the drive back.
The Grand Hyatt is rather nice, and the valet's putting the LR3 up front was nice.
View from the room wasn't half bad
This was slowly deteriorating outside one of the hotel's...
I'll second Don's comments about the fridge; location there is optimal in my opinion both for road trips so the passenger can grab stuff and also as a divider between rear seat passengers (i.e. kiddos). The ironman 40L is about the same size as the comparable ARB if I'm not mistaken and I think...
Oman cont'd; Wadi Shab
To throw some pseudo travel blog in here, and to give some testimonial to just how fantastic Oman is, figured it was worth tossing in some pictures of the wadi itself.
At the parking lot you can pay for a quick boat ride across the water to where the trail head starts...
I should have added, when I did my headliner (somewhere buried in the Coyote build thread), I just used standard Home Depot foil style insulation + the bedliner on the headliner itself since I wasn't sticking with tan; worked extremely well and was a cheap solution with outsized returns.
