    KM2 or AT?

AT's. Mud Terrains are rarely (in my opinion) really necessary in Utah's terrain. I am not that familiar with TX terrain, but if you really have a lot of mud, then go with a mud. I had BFG AT's in the 33x10.50 flavor on my old FJ 62.

Impromptu Beef Basin Trip, April 2011

I wouldn't take a trailer over Elephant Hill, which is the way I came in. If you came up over Elk Ridge or Cottonwood Wash you would be fine. Wood is always a good idea, but be careful...there is a TON of dry brush that could easily torch the area. Pretty quick here there won't be any need for...

Oh yes...I exchanged some funny texts with Mr. Observant driving south out of town...and I saw that on FB. Small world. I was on my way to Beef Basin with my dad, brother in law, and a buddy of mine. I am sorting through the pics now to do a little photo essay on that trip.

Thank You. That means a lot to me. Part of what makes this 'overland' business so fun is sharing the experiences...so many reports here have inspired me to see new places. Yessss!!! The final chapter... That afternoon back at camp, we had KC OConnor and his lovely companion, Mia as well as Kristian and Alyssa stop by to say hello. We ran back up to the ruins and chatted for awhile before they each went their separate ways. With Easter coming, coupled with a significant...

Snake on the wall above the ruins. After working our way back to the vehicles, we were guided by Teaaron to the Snake House Ruins, a.k.a. the River House Ruins. Several large groups of river runners with children in tow descended upon the ruins as we were there. Once it was apparent they would...

    Cedar Mesa, Utah Easter 2011

Once up near Monarch Cave, I worked my way slowly through the canyon to experience everything as best I could. I find myself in awe at the remnants of this civilization still here after so many seasons in the harsh desert. At the trailhead we shared a brief, "hello" with three gentlemen...

    Cedar Mesa, Utah Easter 2011

Once we were back in the saddle again, we checked our maps and found we were getting close. We found the staging area and readied ourselves for the little hike up canyon to Monarch Cave. At this point, Olivia found the hardside of a rock against the side of her head. Of course mommy's love...
