The new Black Diamond Spots are superb. Something like 75 lumens on the spot mode, less when set to the 3 smaller LED's. Dimmable, has a red led setting for night. I really think BD nailed it on the new Spots.

Great report...I am convinced that the best trips turn out to be the best experiences when there isn't too much planning taking place before getting out there. Thanks for your trip report. I think I need more desert.

Food for thought...I had J's on my truck, I felt like they were too soft, and I swapped them out for 3" Comps. Welcome to the portal Jean and Doug! It is definitely big country out there, and certainly has some critters running around. I had a rodent steal an entire container of season salt on one trip...the mouse equivalent of an ant I suppose...

I'd buy 4 Ridgerest closed cell foam pads (the big ones), and buy 3 of the best 20 degree rated bags you can find (down preferably) with the other 500. Then, save another 600 for the next round.

The 1FZ hates to overheat. I would skip any JB Weld, and contact American Toyota in NM and order up a new one for them. Sit down, and put on your seatbelt, they are expensive. Much cheaper than rebuilding a fried motor though... My 1/4 of a cent.
