    SoDak's M101A2 build

Its almost funny how much effort it takes to get a new tongue in square. I am willing to bet only you and your son even notice it. Looking good so far. My vote is to just rattle can as needed. You WILL be grinding off nice paint if you get it painted professionally. It is nice being able to...

"Serenity" - My M101A2 expedition trailer build

My 101A3 with just two side boxes is close to 1800 lbs empty. My guess is that This trailer is closer to 2.5k empty.

    Trailer Weight Distribution

Good one. Worth considering for trailers with spares, hi lifts, fuel, water, etc hanging off the back

    M105 Trailer Build

I doubt you lost much weight with what you removed. The bed and running gear are where most of the weight comes from. I have been staring at a 105 for over a year trying to decided if it is worth the effort to do anything with it. No way would those timbren spindles hold close to the weight...

    M101A3 questions/ build thread

Yup, sounds like an A2 tub. First time I have seen one that looks that similar to an A3. You can tell if the chassis is an A3 measuring the channel used to make the square base/frame of the tub. All of the A3s I have seen were made of 4" channel while the A2s were 3" Emerson, your trailer...

    M101A3 questions/ build thread

Now that I think about it, the flatbed I described did have the bolt on fender extensions. Will see if I can find a pic. Chassis was definitely a 116A3. Wondered why it was narrow between the fenders....guess it was an A2 bed with fender extensions. Still not sure what the OP has. Maybe a...

    M101A3 questions/ build thread

Neat trailer and topper. Have seen a few trailers with 116A3 chassis and 101A2 tubs. They looked bro-dozer-ish with the wheels sticking out past the fenders. I dont think that is what you have. Not sure what you have as the 101A2 tubs I have seen did not have the flared supports inside the...

    M1102 expedition trailer build

May want to leave that rubber mat outside in the sun for a bit. The ones I have purchased from TS have a pretty strong smell for a while. Why such a thick mattress? Lower profile options are not bad comfort wise and would give you a lot more head room.

How do you store your trailer?

Could build a shed and park it in that. Assuming the HOA permits that...... Sometimes I forget how nice it is to have my own trailer parking lot in the back yard. 4 military and 1 tandem. Just need a broken down bus parked in the front yard to complete the image (or a 2.5 ton truck).

    M1101 Brake Conversion Question

What is your tow vehicle? Are brakes requires in your state? IMO, the 101A2/A3 surge brakes are not practical because they are not the "free backing" and also result in a jerky ride. I would not mess with electric over hydraulic. Some people have been doing a hub and/or backing plate swap on...

    M1102 expedition trailer build

Interesting. I figured they would fit but read a post a while ago on steel soldiers about the mil drums not having magnets so the electric brakes would not engage.

    M1102 expedition trailer build

Do the electric backing plates actually work with the mil hub/drum?

Curious what backing plates you used as well. Did you re-use the mil drum/hub?

    My M101A2 Expo/Base Camp Trailer

You don't save much weight removing the brakes. For your tow vehicle, if the surge brakes are working, I would keep them. Spray some lube on the cables, pull hubs, repack bearings, clean brake components, adjust brakes, adjust brake levers, bleed fluid/refill if needed, make sure break away...

    M101A3 build

Good call. The old box mounts did look like a likely point of failure. Still kind of do to be honest. Any concern about the removal of bump stops? How did the shake down trip go?
