Talk me out of a GPSmap 64

It is a good choice. All current model Garmin handheld do more or the less same things. Just look at each to decide which one you like best.

    LR3 brake light question

On a trip last year a friend in a D3 would randomly lose his special programs, usually right at the hardest obstacles and would need to reboot the car. After the trip, he installed Lucas P21/5 bulbs and the fault has not re-occurred.

    LR3 brake light question

Just for fun, I checked wattage of an 1157 and a P21/5 using a 300W regulated 12V supply. Physically, they are identical. Same filament orientation and location. All measurements after the amperage stabilized (amperage drops as the filaments heat). The P21/5 was a Lucas branded bulb, part...

    LR3 brake light question

In the US, the common bulb is the 1157. It is physically the same but the wattage is a bit different to the P21/5W. This can be enough to piss off the computer. A burnt out bulb does silly things as well. The brake switches are also known to leak between the light switch and the switch for the...

    LR3 brake light question

It is critical to not use normal bulbs from an auto store in the US. You must use the proper Europe bulbs. Then get a switch from Ford and install it. When this goes wrong, an unending list of problems will follow.

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

Complete apples and oranges. Those suspensions are huge long arm setups that cost a lot more than a new Defender.

Ground clearance numbers are meaningless comparisons between an independent suspension and live axles.

The 1370 pounds quoted earlier as being the Bronco payload. That is a lot of capacity. I’m nowhere near that with my 110 fully packed and I can do 1100 miles between refueling.

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

Yep. You’d be crazy to spend 50% more for a vehicle that is worse. I really can’t see how anyone planning off road use would purposely choose the new Defender.

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

As to the Defender payload matters not as it has very poor cargo volume.

I’ve travelled all over the world with many sized groups. You do not need payloads that high. People bring a lot of crap that they want. It is not needed.

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

I do that as well but that is not the subject of these forums. There are many places where we travel that are extremely remote by vehicle. There is no need for large payloads.

I’m in North America and regularly do trips that are a week in low range with three days of driving to anybody. You need to get out more. That said 1300 pounds payload is fine.

    INEOS Grenadier

Because they are using Steyr to design the mechanics. They would only look for German drivetrains.

Look. The New Defender that Land Rover was not capable of designing. I wonder what random excuses the brand blind folks will come up with.
