Fresno did the best built I have seen. Mostly built a topper for it, a very nice one. He does sell them so if you go the 1102/1101 route I would take a hard look at his offerings.
I had an 1102 but decided to sell it because it did not appear to be well suited to modifications. The only...
Looking good. Glad you decided to keep it. Funny how motivating a little progress is.
That is the break away lever. Look like it is in the correct position for operation too.
A lot places have a rules that they won't put a truck tire in a trailer. Same BS with TPMS sensors, if they have them when you bring the wheel in, they need to have them when it leaves. I just take wheels in and don't give any info on application. I agree with others that it does not matter...
Very clean install. Rather than put a piece on top the fender, I would put it above it on a vertical wall or on the side of the fender. You may want a few tie down points lower in the bed for shorter pieces of gear. The fender is also prime seating/flat surface area.
Looking good Brad. My 101A3 was used for firewood duty this winter as well.
Just got done making a roof/platform for it. My list of ideas about making a better roof/rack system is getting long. Might sell or scrap my current set up and start over with a little more forethought. I might...

Rather than have two builds going, I decided to focus on completing my M101A3. This is a very nice example of an 1102.

Detailed specifications from manufacturer can be found in the link below...
I am a fan of the pintle set up. Good articulation, robust, and I have never seen one come uncoupled without permission.
You can alway try different mounting systems by welding a piece of channel on the trailer or on a piece of 2" tubing if you already have a 2.5" receiver on your trailer...
Thanks Mark and jruba. These are fun projects. Just purchased a 116A3 flatbed and am eyeballing an 1102....
The wheels I used are 16" x 7 3/4" wide with 5" back spacing. Tires are 225 75 16.
Headed to the steel yard today to pick up material for a removable roof basket/platform and for a...
You will probably have to look for older chevy wheels. Not sure of the year but at some point they switched to metric.
I have a spare wheel and will take some measurements tomorrow.
Sounds like you have a good plan. You picked a nice welder for the project. Looking forward to pictures.
I too bought a welder to work on my trailer. Welding Web is a good forum and Welding Tips and Tricks is a good place to start.

Was a relatively cold winter here... been hauling mostly firewood but finally got around to adding an M116 rear landing leg. With the smaller tires, when fully collapsed the leg was too long. I removed a few inches then welded the foot back on.
Took a few extra pictures and measurements while...
My understanding is that the hub is the issue. Not as simple as swapping the backing plate for an electric one.

Good looking start point. If you can find one, swap the fixed front landing leg for a crank adjustable leg. A military one should bolt right up. I have a rear stabilizer similar to yours that I am trying to mount to my trailer. It needs to be shortened and I haven't figured out how to take...
