AND YET AGAIN: Paul and Mike Try to Build a Hard-Sided Do-It-All ADV Trailer

If I'd known you needed one, I should have sold you this one and saved the energy and money needed for this dubious effort. :sombrero: Seriously, you sure can't find any evidence of one being for sale by any dealer, but given that this is just the Stahl Challenger service body on a trailer, it...

    Lexus LX470 Rear Cabin Conversion...

Thanks for the compliments. The setup worked very well, FWIW. It was very cool to drive as long as I wanted, and when I was ready, just pull over wherever I wanted and I was good for the night. Even more comfort and convenience would come with removal of one or both sides of the rear seats, but...

    Need tie-down flexibility-- L track

Another vote for it as a wonderful invention and a cost-effective way to hold all sorts of stuff. Totally rattle-free, in my experience. Great product. (Forgive its role as the mechanism by which airline seats can be fanatically scrunched together.) Go here...

AND YET AGAIN: Paul and Mike Try to Build a Hard-Sided Do-It-All ADV Trailer

Paul's gonna get that adjacent parallel universe thing going; lots of room, then. ;) Seriously, we are planning on sleeping four if we have to . . . two friendly ones in the Autohome and two even friendlier ones in the service body. (But one or two will be way more normal.) And the seating will...

AT IT AGAIN: Paul and Mike Convert a Mid/Tall T1N Sprinter Cargo

Thank you for the nice compliment. It's turned out to be an extremely usable camper for two.

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

On the recent trip to southern Utah, the backpack I had strapped to the MPAC Molle rack passed the point of no return: This was expected, and no great tragedy. The backpack, while exactly the size and configuration I wanted, was pretty much an "urban style" thing, sold by Polo Denim, of all...

    Lexus LX470 Rear Cabin Conversion...

Wow, compared to how you got it, it looks a lot better already. ;) I don't know if the diameter of your 20# tank would fit, but I considered cutting a precisely-sized big round hole in the streetside wing (about where the 'oddments bin" metal tray is) and letting my 10# Power Tank sit down...

    Lexus LX470 Rear Cabin Conversion...

I'd have given it to you if you'd bought any one of the thirty Hundys I tried to get you to buy. :sombrero: Here's the story of how it ended up where it did: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/134100-Free-is-a-Very-Good-Price-100-SERIES-CARGO-AREA-CONVERSION-Portland-OR

    Fuel milage???? 80 and a 100

:iagree: That was my experience as well, 1996 LandCruiser to 2000 LX470. I believe I also got better fuel economy out of my 5-speed 2005 LX than the 4-speed 2000, something a bit over a mile a gallon.

AT IT AGAIN: Paul and Mike Convert a Mid/Tall T1N Sprinter Cargo

The van gets new "window treatments" The other thing I've done lately to the van was to get new blinds for the big rear side windows and the rear door windows. If you've read through the thread, you know that Paul installed these louvered blinds . . . Paul custom cut these to the...

AT IT AGAIN: Paul and Mike Convert a Mid/Tall T1N Sprinter Cargo

I haven't had this one in really fine dust. It does pretty well with the average stuff. The Sprinter I had before--http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19224--was out in the talcum stuff a few times, and while it wasn't perfect, it seemed to have well above average sealing. Much...

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

Nah, had it all the way. Just kidding, how would I know? It was pitch, freakin' black. Hey, here's a thought . . . maybe next year we could do it in daylight. :sombrero:

AT IT AGAIN: Paul and Mike Convert a Mid/Tall T1N Sprinter Cargo

A modest update . . . As makes perfect sense given that the conversion is pretty much finished, there's not been much to pass on in the build thread. Here's an "upgrade," however, that might be worth sharing. Overall, it's pretty simple. We wanted to mount a 23" Vizio LCD television/monitor I...

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

One of the most interesting things I learned going down that grade in the XV-JP (5.13 gears and 33s) was that if I was in first gear in 4WD Lo, the truck wouldn't go but about 3 mph downhill. I'd not been down many of these low speed, really steep descents before, and was really surprised that I...

VANdiana Jones sequel: The Legacy Continues

And here, I'm pretty sure, is Vandiana poised in contemplation of the edge of the above-mentioned drop. Not the most useful picture, since the trail is invisible off to the left (though you can tell there was a good-sized elevation change in not much distance). Unfortunately, throughout the...
