The simplest solution with little expense would be an Air Ride over load air spring such as a Firestone 251C bag and adding the appropriate brackets (we used a lot of these bags for the GEN 2 suspension). Alternatively, Dave is right about the aftermarket TAAS from us. There can be many...
Dave,
It looks great man! Very creative. Almost like a surfboard strap put way better. Are you resting the aluminum tube directly on the EA cover? If so, you might consider adhering a 1/8" thick layer of dense neoprene foam to the bottom of the tube to prevent chaffing on the EA cover.
What we recommend to folks with a 4 wire that need to go to a 7 pin is to use a Hopkins Mfg part #47185 or similar product. It simplifies add the brake and 12V auxliary power. You can find the product at www.trailerwiring.com and auto parts stores. Good luck!
Sorry, not much in the way of updates lately as activities at AT have taken precedence in past weeks. Expect a little more of an update in the coming week as some time has been freed up. The Currie is next on the list. Gotta get the MJ ready to go on an upcoming trip!
The thought is to remove a connection i.e. arm connected to drop down bracket, drop down bracket connected to unibody. Over the years of this system I have need to constantly re-tighten it because such leverage is exerted against the brackets. We'll see if the theory proves out in practice
Look like you have a potentially dangerous situation on your hands there. Although this may not be along the "Military lines" , the attached pictures of how we put jacks on our trailers may provide some inspiration.
BTW, very nice trailer tongue upgrade you have done!
Toyota Diesel news
As reported by Reuters in IndustryWeek magazine Aug 2008:
"Toyota Motor Corp will build a diesel plant in Thailand for $US162 million to meet rising demand for its IMV vehicle series. The company plans to churn out 150,000 units a year at the facility which will be built on...
Release dates are approximately correct. They happened to be separate projects that coincidentally happened around the same time. The Taco Chaser was conceived on a napkin during a show we were doing in Sacramento. Matt was thinking of doing a tube bed at the time and suddenly realized that the...
Having read the posts here we feel it is important to separate some facts from conjecture and opinion. We will preface this by saying that we believe that honest competition is good and that a rising tide raises all ships. We know that trailers are becoming more popular and sought after in the...
You're welcome. Your testing approach sounds like it will give you a good feel for your battery capacity. I would suggest that you monitor temperature inside your vehicle if you can as your fridge compressor will be drawing more as the ambient temperature rises. This way you can put a...
Measuring consumption on an Engel 45 at our shop using a "Doc Watson" from www.powerwerx.com, we have seen daily consumption of 20 to 28 A/h per day at 12 VDC on the "Ref" setting (around 38-40F) with ambient temps is the 70-80F range. Our experience with solar panels is that unless they are...
We considered the JKS solution too but it does not spread the load out any more than the stack mount. Depending on how hard you work your WJ, you may want to keep an eye on the mounting location for hairline stress cracks over time
We've been off the radar for a couple of weeks in N. AZ but we're back and working again on the MJ. One of the weak spots that sees stress cracks after 350K miles is the stock shock mount. The stock set up has the top pin of the shock going through the body, cushioned on some bushings. To...
