I bought a cheap Lenovo 10" tablet and it works very well. We pretty much use it for navigating and that's it. (Though I have used it to d/l Netflix movies on as well)
I run Backcountry Navigator on it, and have HERE offline road maps on it for a back-up to my Garmin street gps if need be. I...
Yes, my Four Wheel Camper sucks. All 40+ nights and 15K+ km we experianced in it last year. Here's to a sucky adventurous 2019 with it as well. ;)

That's very cool. Without question the best memories from my youth are the ones from the adventures and road trips our parents took us on. Can't ever put a price on that. Good job, my hat is off to you.
I carried 2 spares on out trip up to Tuk last July. I kept one under the bed in the stock position, and put a second on the Hitchgate on the back, along with extra fuel and stuff. If I did that trip over again I wouldn't take 2 full spare wheels. My tires were pretty much new on the way up and...
73datsun reminded me of the calcium chloride. Yes, they put it on The Dempster to keep the dust down. Whne it gets wet, it's as slick as doggie doo. You also should wash your vehicle thoroughly once you get back to Dawson City. You don't want that stuff staying on your vehicle. I missed a few...
We drove to Tuk last June/July with our truck and FWC.
Based on our trip these are a few observations.
- mudflaps, mudflaps, mudflaps....without them you will destroy the undersides of your camper
- we had new E rated Ridge Grapplers and while they did show good wear by the time we got home...
I see it as risk vs. reward with a dose of common sense thrown in. My FWC allows us to camp comfortably in places where you'd never be able to take a traditional hard sided camper or trailer into. For me, it is worth that small risk in camping in an FWC to be able to experience these parts of...
Yes, if you are licensed you can carry any non-resteicted firearm (typical rifle and shotgun) in the back country. We actually do not have much restriction regarding long guns at all. Handguns and AR types are considered restricted and (for the most part) limited to being taken to, and used at...
I realize it's a little aside from the handgun conversation, but I carry a short pistol-grip shotgun in my Eberlestock Gunrunner backpack and for me it's a great set-up. Aside from the fact we can't carry handguns in the wilderness up here anyways, for me this set-up has ticked off all the...
Go North. It is epic on an un-describable level. For the most part it is void of weekend picture-snapping warriors, it takes a little effort and work to Get North, but the payoff is so very worth it.
The Yukon (well, Nothern BC, The Yukon, the NWT) are just out of this world beautiful on a...
You know what they say, "once you go full size........". I went from a kitted out Xterra to my Tundra and FWC setup. As much as I loved the mid-size Xterra (and it had pretty decent power to be honest), after a year of owning the Tundra I can't see I'd ever go back to anything less. The...
Yes, there is a rack with the jerry can mounts attached to it. Tey are optional add-ons for the Hitchgate. I also have the horizontal Hi-Lift mounted under there too.
I have the Hitchgate offset model on my Tundra. It was exactly what I was looking for and has done it's job without any complaints. The offset model will swing out all the way to the right, if you have a tailgate you can still open it no problem.
