NVIDIA Shield Tablet/Ram Mount Installed 10-22-2016 I have been noticing a lot more rigs going on back country trips using a tablet device to run Back Country Navigator and other mapping apps instead of a dedicated GPS unit. I have an iPad Air, but Apple products do not have a built in GPS...

A good Android based tablet for GPS navigation

Both Ram mounts and the backing plate for a tablet showed up yesterday, and today my NVIDIA Shield and a 64 GB SanDisk card show up. Will try out the NVIDIA for awhile, but this looks interesting too, and it has a cool menu when you mark a waypoint for a site you drive into...

Chad, glad to hear that suction mount works good for you. I wonder how this compares to the NVIDIA Shield. Acer Predator 8 GT-810-15NC 8-inch Full HD Gaming Tablet (Android Lollipop) It has the goodshiip Lollipop on it, where as the NVIDIA Shield you can get Android 6.0 Marshmallow over the...

    Ronny Dahl's Trips

That would be cool if he can join along with their team if they head over there. Yes, he has a very nice rig, and he is getting some work done to it, but he has not spilled the beans on it yet. That thing sounds like a beast when he has it in low when crossing a river or slogging up hill through...

    Expedition Overland - 2015 Season

"Oh Hey There!" Cooking Stoves Personally I use a Camp Chef Denali which is no longer made, but it suits me fine. I am also partial to Piezo starters on a stove, no need to mess with matches or a lighter. I also like this one that Christophe from the forum here reviewed from Primus called...

Corey's 2007 FJ Cruiser built for expedtion/overland, & daily driver

I was BS'n ya :D The drive into work today my vision was not compromised, can hardly tell the shovel is there really, as it is not much higher than the Hi-Lift. If I did not have a roof top tent, the Hi-Lift and shovel would be on the back of the rack like I use to run it years ago.

Thanks, I found the newer 10" model, now have to decide between it, or the smaller NVIDIA one. The latter does get some rave reviews over on Amazon.

Expedition Overland - Mackenzie Trail 2016 - On YouTube soon!

Kurt, what size and brand tablet did you run in the Tacoma, and what mount? I am currently looking into tablets for mapping campsites. Thanks, and I did put up a thread under the GPS section. Kind of diggin' that NVIDIA one that was posted. Also watching part III on the TV right now, just...

Bomber Products Shove-Lock & Krazy Beaver Shovel Installed 10-16-2016 I have had my Hi-Lift on my front ARB bumper for quite sometime now. Recently Bomber Products released a mount for attaching a shovel to your Hi-Lift, and I snagged one up. I also snagged up one of the Krazy Beaver...

Thanks Chad. I like Asus products, which is their new model in that size, as I would like to get one that is still in production. What map app are you using too? Would like something that shows me in real time when I am exploring, and be able to mark and name a road I turn down, and to be able...

    Ronny Dahl's Trips

I bet there are quite a few here that watch Ronny's videos. I subscribed to his site probably last spring or so, as he has lots of tips, and great coverage of adventures in the Australian Outback. His three latest videos are great, so I will post them. I am currently watching number three of...

A good Android based tablet for GPS navigation

First off I have an iPad Air Wi-Fi only, so there is not GPS in it, so it only works with maps when at home connected to my network. I know I can buy this for it: Dual Electronics XGPS150A Universal Bluetooth GPS Receiver for Portable Devices It would allow my iPad Air to work when away from...
